But it's a whole new equation with Yao out there. Yao, Luther and Tmac are a dangerous combination for defenses, because Luther is going to be getting even more open looks, or single coverage for 111.

it will be nice to get the yao/chuck combo going again. those 2 really played well together.

and with yao/tmac, more often than not luther will be the guy that makes teams pay more so than bonzi and snyder.

but we will see. all have their strengths and weakness, and each is different for those players so it will be interesting to see how that works out.

Chuck cuts to the basket when his man leaves him....and gets a lot of wide open layups.

Juwan stays put on the outside....

As for Bonzi being more talented than Snyder? Maybe in the past, but not this year.....Bonzi has been a severe dissappointment.

So you are in favor of a lineup without Shane Battier?

To give both Snyder and Bonzi minutes, you reduce Rafer's minutes, not Head's. Unless Head is in a shooting slump.

By the way, Hayes just makes so much more sense with Yao. If they fade off Hayes, he goes to the rim, high precentage bball, and draws fouls. We need to keep the Juwan Deke combo intact. Let them come in and ball when Yao needs a breather and Hayes gets a couple fouls.

I believe we are 14-4 with that starting lineup

Matt...thanks for the constant updates lately. I know you've got better things to do than keep us in the loop.

I think Hayes is a more natural start with Yao back. Howard can come off the bench for an extra scoring option when Yao is out. He does relatively well to move into the open spaces when McGrady is doubled and he gets that shot at the top of the key...which is money for him.

Whoooooo...I knew it. Where'd that thread go on whether or not Chuck would be reinserted into the starting lineup when Yao came back? Like I said before, Chuck fits so nicely with Yao. Can't wait for the game. GO ROCKETS!

I have to admit to being a doubter! :) And you would think I would be the last person to doubt his return to the starting lineup.

Can't wait until the game tonight.. I am sure all of the guys will be hyped to have Yao back.

Head shouldn't lose minutes. Dude has the same athleticism as Snyder. All Snyder has over Head is his height, and handles. Head can penetrate too(which i wish he would do more) and take ppl off the dribble(remember Dirk and Turiaf) and he really is fast, but i think JVG wants him as a spot up shooter. I also think think JVG is trying to mold Head into a Charlie Ward/Chris Childs type, which i hope he isn't cuz Head is a lot beter than those two. Head just doesn't utuilize all his skills. I guarnatee youin another sysytem or tema Head could be 15, 5 , and 3 type of guy. But JVG systems limits you so much as a player if you aren't a main scoring option. And i don't think every play off the bench should see the same amount of minutes every night or every game. I think a certain bench player should see more minutes than the other according to whoever we playing.

why wouldn't you reduce head's minutes, or both? like someone said earlier, it's becoming more clear that the only thing head brings is his 3 pt shooting. in that sense, shouldn't steve novak be playing?

i like head, but his limitations, especially playing the point, are common knowledge to opposing teams, and those limitations lead to forced shots and turnovers. we've seen snyder bring up the ball with less trouble than head, and i don't see teams pressuring either him or bonzi the way they pressure head because both those players have the size to see over traps, while head tends to go blind and throw the ball wherever he can.

and because head is so good at focusing on shots regardless of whether he's made or missed previous ones, playing time shouldn't affect his ability to come in for clutch situations that require 3 point shooting. so i also wouldn't mind less minutes for head. don't cut him out completely, but definitely consider matchups and whether or not he's hot.

It's the return of the PF who is a foot shorter than his C.

Yao playing with Hayes at PF is like having a normal sized C playing with Iverson at the 4.

Poor Hayes, his first assignment is probably not to grab more rebounds, but to prevent any collusion happening to Yao. :)
