this is the only reply that is noteworthy.. and it makes sense. maybe juwan can't do what i want him to do, and i didn't consider that.. everyone else calling me a juwan hater just doesn't want to see the rockets play smarter.. especially after the spurs game, it killed me as a rocket's fan.
and that's fine.. it's subjective as it should be.. i don't understand why half the people here are waiting to get on someone about an opinionated post.. it's like you've all been picked on too many times and are waiting to pick on others.. why don't you just read the info and see if it applies to what you watch.. stop hating the "hater" (even though i'm not hating..) it's pretty ignorant and hypocritical.
While I agree with you that he is not a good player, we really needed his scoring over the last couple of months with Yao out.. He did a great job of picking up some of the scoring load. Now that the big fella is back, Juwon will go back to the bench and play a limited role on this team....You picked an odd time to single him out. Give the man some credit for helping the team get by without a legitimate MVP candidate.
i give him credit.. and i'm sorry.. i am a perfectionist. i like to see people change the bad things they do... and juwan has not evolved his mind set for the last gagillion years.. can you see why this is frustrating? i'm glad he's scoring for us.. yes.. but any veteran can do that. we just have to have this one.
Don't worry...The starting lineups are already out for tomorrow's game and Juwan is not in it for the Rockets.... He can not really be our trojan horse from the bench...can he?
If you're a "perfectionist" then take the ax to every player on the team, especially the ones who aren't productive. If Juwan hadn't played well in Yao's absence, the Rockets would be in a world of trouble because Chuck commits the dumbest fouls in NBA history and is a complete zero on offense most of the time. If missed layups were kept as a stat, he would be #1 in that also. How many veteran players "evolve" after playing 12 seasons? Wouldn't it be nice if Deke would "evolve" on offense and be useful at least some of the time? Yes, but it won't happen. Juwan was complete garbage last season but has "evolved" from being completely out of the rotation into being a key component of our successful run without Yao. Do you honestly believe "any veteran" could do that? My goodness, and then you call people "ignorant" and "hypocritical". Wow! Don't blame people for being critical of what you posted. If that bothers you so much just be quiet. When you start a thread named "Juwan Howard = The Trojan Horse" and post something most people think is ridiculous, brace for the impact.
i know all you people know what i'm talking about... so stop analyzing everything i'm saying and throwing it back at my face.. instead, you can defend juwan. i just think his "shoot-first" is worse than others, and this effect on the team is worse than others.. there are plenty of other bad things i can name, but this one seemed to me to be the worse for our team. if you don't like it.. then explain why, don't bash me bashing you for calling me names to begin with. that's on you son. peace
I get it: You're right and EVERYBODY ELSE is wrong. That's convenient. Don't you think there might be a slim chance that you seeing something most other people here don't see means that either you're looking at the wrong things or you don't know what you're talking about?
I agree with you about Juwan's predictability but it still does not erase the fact that he hits the open shots. Hey, I will hold up a sign and let everyone know on the D if Juwan hits the shot. If you look at it from that view, everyone on the team is predictable. Yao, T-mac, Luther, Rafer.......the team. It is predictable on the tube, but in gametime it truly isn't that easy to guess their actions. I think Yao is maybe the most predictable on our team, but he is a beast and finishes: so who gives a damn. I hated JH last year........hated. But he truly redeemed himself in my eyes for the effort he put out this year to keep us in playoff contention.
Say what? After Tracy, Juwan is our best mid-range jump shooter. For the season, his FG% is 47% (higher if you dump the first month of the season when he was a scrub) and he only takes 8.5 shots per game. How is that a "shoot-first" mentality? He is also the only guy on our team with a consistent low post game without Yao. Pardon my density, but I still don't know what you are talking about. He is also 82.5% on FTs. Juwan knows what his abilities are and plays within them fairly well. Is that enough explanation for you? Your "shoot-first" point about Juwan is completely bogus. Give me 2-3 more shots/game from him and 2-3 less from Rafer and we would have won more games in Yao's absence.
Shoot first? He takes the shots that the offense creates for him. He's the ONLY post option without Yao, and without him in there, we would be in a WORLD of trouble. It's pretty convenient for you to say that we're all hypocrites and bashers simply because we all disagree with you. He has the most consistent mid-range jumper on this team, and one of the highest free throw percentages as well....he was top 5 for a while there in the entire league. It's fine to have an opinion different from most, but when somebody gives you stats and reasons as to why you're wrong, at least have the open-mindedness to concede the point.
Juwan is one of the big reasons that we're even going to be in the playoffs. I don't care how well T-mac has played this year, we would have been sunk if Juwan didn't step up and give us some much needed scoring. So to take a dig at him for how you figure he'll do in the playoffs is kind of missing the big picture. P.S. I believe the metaphor that pertains to what you're describing is "Fool's Gold" not "Trojan Horse".
Come to think about it. Yes Juwan seldomly passes. But if he really does pass it, then to who? No one just passes to Juwan without reason but because he has the ability/open space to knock down shots. The teamates wants Juwan to take the shots. If Juwan had passes the ball instead of taking shots, you would sure be bashing him for that.
Last year, I wouldn't want Juwan to be taking all these shots. This year, however, I would much rather have him take those mid range shots than giving Rafer/Head/JL3 a chance to drive in. I see where you're coming from, he does miss those turn-around hooks from time to time, but I think he's been a lot more efficient with his shots this year. Btw, I'm also not getting this Trojan Horse deal.. if he DOES turn out to be one.. we'll just give him to Dallas
Juwan left his job as the bricklayer of the last 2 seasons. He gave that role up and passed it to Rafer. I think Battier has helped out Juwan since Battier is good shooter and is making Juwan that much more wide open. Plus we can put Battier on PFs on Defense. I dont want to see Juwan vs Dirk ever again. I do think the title of his thread is very creative tho.
