I hope Rudy has finally learned not to give it to Mobley so much

After the Raptors game, I hope Rudy realizes that we cannot give it to Mobley that much. Mobley is a good player, but he is a streak shooter. And even when a streak shooter is hot, he probably shouldn't be taking 24 shots.

What I don't understand is how come Francis was never isolated? Francis is a better dribbler than Mobley, quicker than Mobley is, and can penetrate better than Mobley. If you are going to isolate Cuttino MObley, then you might as well isolate Francis. Plus Rudy should have exploited Mugsy Bogues and let Francis post him up some.

This offense is even worse than the DIT offense with Hakeem and Charles. At least you would pass the ball in the DIT offense. Here, you just watch Mobley jack up 18 footers that never go in.

I think cuttino is a really talented player that should get the ball, but he had just 1 less shot than Vince Carter! I say about 10 to 15 shots a game should be probably enough.

This new iso offense with Mobley is killing the team! There's no ball movement, no motion. We have a pretty talented team here and should use everybody a bit more on offense. With Charles and Hakeem out, everyone was saying this was going to be a whole new guards/motion offense, with cutting, fastbreaking, moving without the ball, driving and penetrating offense. And even though I have seen a bit of each, it has by far been the Cuttino Mobley show.

Cuttino is like Stephon Marbury. The Nets are playing really well right now, and if you look at the stats, Marbury is getting less shots and getting more assists during the New Jersey winning streak.

OVERALL here's what we should probably do

1.)Don't use the iso play with Molbey so much. He should still get the ball, but not nearly as much as the Toronto game. Plus tell Mobes not to jack up 18 footers anymore! The purpose of the iso play should be to get your teammates involved by driving and dishing. Even if Mobley scores 10 times on an iso play, it still hurts the team because no one else gets the ball and they get cold. Mobley is NOT A SUPERSTAR. When you don't really have a star scorer on your team, you have to move the ball around and see what you can get. Make the other team play 5 on 5 defense! It's a field day on defense for the other team when Mobley is given the iso. A lot of times, Mobley doesn't even make his defender work by taking the jumper.

2)Get Shandon involved. He was being aggresive yesterday, but his shots just didn't fall. He needs to keep being aggresive.

3.)Rockets need to come out ready to play. They always get screwed in the 1st quarter. And it's not cause of Hamilton either. The rockets just come out cold.

Final thought... I hope Rudy learns from the Raptors game. WE obviously did SOMETHING a little different to win the Boston game and the Washington game and all the other games that we won. Right now Mobley is like 50% of our offense. He needs to be at about 30% or so. INVOLVE EVERYONE ELSE AND WE WILL WIN.

Maybe Rudy doesnt want to win. I said this a couple times before, IN HIS interviews he clearly says " Yeah I think this year we are just trying to play well together then when we go in the draft, we could get a really good player with a good pick and a player from free agency.

He is tanking this season, no matter what anyone says. He says he wants to be in the lottery and he wants a good free agent.

Also after every loss, What does he say?????

" I think we are improving , we just have not quite got it together in the 4th but im so proud of these guys"

CUT THE BS RUDY, You know you dont even care.

Liked your post woman from the frozen state [IMG] .... seriously though , we do need to do some changing ,as stated in another post by me , Rudy has always talked about percentages
and about going w/the high percentage play , as example the post offense , boring as hell but effective . This new guard(Cuttino) oriented offense is starting to get too predictable and obviously teams know about it and are defending it accordingly , also, we never get the rebounds from missed shots because everyone else is standing on the other side just doing nothing , how about crashing the boards guys ?

Yeah, I hope we change it up against the Clippers. Lamar vs. Steve. Let's not make it Lamar vs. Cuttino.

somebody's got to be 'the man' and for some reason stevie's not taking over yet, so don't yell at cat yet [IMG]

the other pieces... are looking good.
carlos - great
walt - great for 2, let's talk in 8 more

shandon - have you played really well w/ stevie yet?

stevie - is this whole plan designed to have a player so that opposing teams can't double on you off the other guard?

I hear you achebe, but being "the man" doesn't constitute jacking up tough 18 foot jumpers with a defender in your face. Cat can just drive and dish to a teammate. Or he can drive and get fouled. But instead, half of his shots are from those pull up jumpers that he always takes. His shooting % could be so much better if he'd only drive more.

Rudy operates by a belief in going with charted success of plays...you add FGM+fouls for a particular play and devide by number of times that play was called.

Rudy generally always goes with the percentages in the end. Clearly, the Mobley ISO is the highest percentage play we have, just like the Barkley low post call was at 53%. You count anyones production off those plays, not just Mobley's. Last night, I was at the game, and I counted the Mobley ISO. Here's my figures, I didn't tape it so I could use some help here.

Mobley was 9-24, 3 assists and 3-4 FTs. I counted 18 Mobley ISO plays..8 FGM (2 by assist)...4 fouls (two on mobley, one cato, one Rogers). That is a 12 for 18 success rate, or a very good 66% compared to Barkley's 53% last year.

Help me here...my numbers will not be accurate. If any of you ever reach Rudy T during a talk show, ask him what the success rate is for the Mobley ISO play. I guarantee you, according to Rudy's counting, that play has our highest success rate.

To me, it is easy to point the blame at Rudy and Mobley here, but really, how do you expect to win close games when the other team either made a basket or was fouled every position in the last two minutes (correct me if I'm wrong)...a 100% success rate. We lost that game on the defensive end. Cato doubled Carter twice leaving Oakley on the other side, and no one got over to cover him before a two pass swing let Oakley drill the game winners.

That I blame on Rudy, or drew. If you want Cato to come way over as a premier shotblocker to force Carter to pass, you can't realistically expect Cato to be able to get back over to cover Oakley. That play beat us. They used Bogues to draw Drew under the basket since Drew would not be a sufficient double teamer on Carter underneath. When Cato comes over, Drew should have ran out to Oakley and left Bogues underneath (at 5'1" he ain't doing anything there). Drew could have at least hindered the easy swing pass to Oakley. Giving Cato a 1/2 step he needed to get back.

Backseat driving on my part. But they did this twice in a row...exchanging Oakley with Bogues to draw Cato away. ugh.

no one can convince me Mobley blew this game. Our defense failed on rotations. You cannot win close games when the other team is scoring or getting fouled 100% of the time in the last 2 minutes. If that first Oakley shot isn't made, they have to start fouling us for the win at the free throw line, and Mobley never has to do is second ISO at 30 seconds.
