It was not the same thing at all. Spanoulis' complaints included:

    1) I was deceived
    2) I was T-Mac back home
    3) I have nothing to prove.

Not to mention that Howard is a veteran, former all-star player. Spanoulis has proven nothing.

He could be telling the truth. Can't fault a guy for telling the truth.

That's an opinion, but it was also supported by facts.

Is that from a direct quote?

VSpan's performance in WC is as valid as Juwan's in NBA.

VSpan complained to the press, you don't do that.

Yeah, so did Rafer.....after he almost got into a fistfight with his coach. So did half the league at one time or the other. Big whoop.

The poster asked what was the difference between VSpan and Juwan, Juwan acted like a professional and said the right things while VSpan whined immaturely.

I actually like Span (and Boki) and would want them to do well because that mean the Rockets will better. I just don't understand why they get so much more love other players, players who are actually good enough to get in the game and contribute.

It's not the idea of loving or hating them. It's the idea of what works produce Ws. I don't hate Juwan, never have. And he's a great professional. He's been a big help to us since Yao went down. Once again, that is since Yao went down. But Juwan playing alongside Yao does not work, because it gives us 2 slow players on the court and we get burnt in transition too easily. Typically the opponent only has one slug or no slugs on the court and a quicker player/s at the other 4 positions. When Yao and Juwan are in there, we get outquicked on both ends. We have "survived" with Juwan and Deke basically because Deke has played out of his mind with this spurt and Juwan has been dead on with his jumper, thereby negating some of the lack of quickness. Now, it is starting to bite us in the hind in. The opponents have "figured it out" and at the same time Juwan's jumper has gone south along with Rafer's still being south. We need Yao back, and we need Juwan to go back to the bench and let Yao and Chuckie start.

I like Rafer too. He's really a great guy. And he's a good player. But he is a weak link in our team. We need a playmaker at the point guard and he isn't it. Rafer is what he is, a very good handle, poor shooter, poor finisher, who is best off distributing the basketball on the break and shooting the 3 ball when he is hot. That's it. Realistically, we need a playmaker when teams are taking McGrady out of the game. He ain't it. Luther ain't it. Lucas ain't it. It's hard to tell right now if VSpan is it, but we have no other choice at this point. We need to find out if he can be it in those situations. If not, then we need to hope that Francis gets bought out or something.

That's interesting. How did you and Patience know Juwan "was not happy to be out of the rotation" then? Are both of you Juwan's confidants?

To me that actually shows that the guy cares about contributing or being a factor in the team. All the bench guys are getting their dough but for someone to demand playing time that just shows that he is eager to contribute, it shows desire. Deron Williams also complained early in the season about playing time and Jerry Sloan didn't take it against him. Instead he played him for 48 minutes. You may argue that Deron Williams is a different case altogether, but the point is coaches shouldn't care about the breach of some code of etiquette . If a guy can play and contribute he should get playing time. Be professional and dont take things personally or hold a grudge against him. In any case, JVG has already ridiculed Vspan in public by laughing at him and making that reaction after the tsakalidis trade that " it will give someone for billy to b**** to". He took his swipe at Vspan and hasn't heard a response... Right now we have a relatively deep bench but It is useless to have a deep bench if we continue to have a shallow minded approach to our rotation.

The title of this thread reminds me of the Far Side where Dick Clark ages 200 years in 10 seconds on national TV.

Juwan and Deke are a huge reason we are still the 5 seed in the West. They have struggled lately, but hardly should be blamed more then anyone else. Against the Celtics and Raptors, everyone sucked. Juwan sucked, Deke sucked, Battier sucked, Head sucked, Alston sucked. Tmac missed a game and sucked in the other.

Since you overreacted after the one really bad stretch the rox have had since yao went out, I am awaiting your Deke is a rejuvinated young man who will dominate on the glass the rest of the year, and Howard is a jumpshooting marvel after their games last night verse the nuggets.

Thats my point. There are so many posters who go into panic mode after two or three bad games, but never has anything decent to say after two or three good games. If you want to bash deke hard for getting only one rebound against toronto shouldnt he be praised equally hard for getting 22 the next game.

Its to be expected that Deke and Juwan would slow down a little its a long season with a lot of wear and tear especially on those guys since it was never the intention for them to be getting so many minutes. That said we see that Deke can still play and with Tsakalidis and Yao coming back he will get some more rest and will hopefully be back strong in the playoffs.

Deke is getting younger before our eyes. What an amazing turnaround! Breaking rebounding records like nobody's business.
