Does this deal with Jackson help to sign the Mooch or will it lead to us doing a sign and trade or just letting him go to free agency? I will be so pissed off if we lose Mooch.

I think the Rockets have Mooch by the balls. Unless he signs with the Clippers, the Rockets can offer him the most money. So, it's either the minimum, or 2-4 mill with us. We don't have to do a S&T, and because of that Moochie and his puppet Fegan will have to realize they don't control their destiny.

Moochie is an "early" Bird exception guy. The same kind Bullard was, but I'm not sure as to what restrictions that gives the Rockets and Moochie.

I'm pretty sure the Rockets can still re-sign him even if over the cap.

I don't know what a S&T would do for the Rockets. What kind of 3-4 mill per year player would we get in return? Surely, not a great one if it's straight-up for Moochie, a backup PG. We'd have to get a backup PG or SG or both in return.

thx for the info kid. I was just echoing the s&t talk I had heard elsewhere and was worried. Mooch is the man and I do not want to lose him.

I love Mooch. But, it seems like him and Fegan are trying to get in a shootout with the Rockets with a cap gun, while we have an A-Bomb.

The longer nothing happens, the better for the Rockets, believe it or not. The cap and luxury tax have given teams leverage over FA's looking to cash in.

If we could get a decent backup PG or SG in return, I wouldn't mind letting Moochie go.

If Steve can step-up this year I have no problem seeing Mooch go, but if he doesn't we need Moochie. Some games last season you could tell Steve just wasn't on, and in those games Mooch provided the spark for the team to still play well and win the game. The best soloution is for Steve to step-up and us to keep Mooch anyways.

The only reason I would feel threatened for Mooch to leave via S&T, is the fact that Fegan is his agent.

Mooch seems more willing to stay here than Anderson or Olajuwon.

I love Mooch, but this whole thing has annoyed me. Get it over with, sign on the dotted line. No need to waste time, we got a season to worry about in a week or so.

I'd probably rather have Mookie over Moochie. He's old, but we can find a backup PG to replace him anyway. Problem is that Blaylock makes 5.4 million this year. He has no years remaining, which might be why GS would keep him. Perhaps a Walt-Mookie trade for straight-up would work? GS is desperate for 3 pt shooting, and Walt would be their best shooter hands down. But, they need a backup PG, like us if they traded Mook.

Would a Moochie/Walt for Jackson/Mook deal work? I think it would work cap-wise. But, GS might rather have Jackson walk, than S&T him to Houston, since they'd have to get roughly 8 mill back in salary. GS is probably looking to avoid the Lux Tax.

I want to see Moochie resigned with the Rockets, but if we have to do a sign and trade which is quite likely to happen,I would rather get V.Cummings instead of Blaylock.
Blaylock is the better player out of the two,but he will be gone after a year, and we will still need a backup guard.Cummings is a young player who could backup Francis and even Mobley.

I know we will probably have to get another player from GS if we want Cummings to make a S/T work,in that case we will probably have to take Blaylock or Sura as well.
