So, this morning as I'm getting my two daughters up...they won't... so I hug my oldest and do a silly routine where I grap her and slide onto the floor and land on my back and this usually works because of the sensation of falling I guess, (I've done this before), but this a.m. I suddenly slide way too fast and the back of her head hits my nose pretty good...Of course my nose is bleeding, I go to the bathroom and a nice slime trail of blood is dealt with... and the little ones are concerned (I try to keep them from seeing the blood)and as I tell my wife about my nose...I swear a sensation of prickly feeling comes over me and I honestly feel faint. I lay down on the bed and turn the fan on, and my wife thinks I'm jacking around and pulling this to avoid dropping off the girls at school. After a few minutes I regain composure and go about the routines of today...I know it's a lame way to feel almost knocked out but what else could it be?
You need to quickly pick up that Assault rifle and head to the range so that you can get that manly testosterone filled feeling again, and stop acting like a girl ! DD
I bent over to pick up my daughter one time right as she jumped up into my arms. Her head hit the bottom of my chin and knocked me out. Next thing I knew she was standing over me asking if I was OK. Only time I've ever been knocked out.
Scary...I don't think I've ever felt that sensation even when I got in fights when I was younger and what not...
A couple of things could be happening. One is there are nerves in the nose and chin that if struck properly will create a knockout blow. I've been told the best way to knock someone out is to hit someone in the face with an up strike palm heel which catches either the point on the chin or the base of the nose. The nose is fairly sensitive but also when struck it pushes back into the face or up in the eyes, which is why when you get hit in the nose your eyes will often water. The pain or the shock of that blow, even lightly, may cause you to feel light headed. Also the sight of your own blood and the concern about keeping your kids from seeing it might've made you feel faint.
At least you didn't get a "BODY SHOT... BODY SHOT... BODY SHOT..." (at the 1:33 or -2:45 mark) <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ALFlMXzY1Xc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ALFlMXzY1Xc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> ... but really ... that must have hurt like a 'mug...
i felt like this once, when i cut the tip of my pinky finger off. It wasnt because I saw alot of blood, it just seemed like there alot coming out, maybe thats what caused it.
I was playing catch with the football one time in the backyard at my mom's house when I was a freshman in high school. My uncle threw the ball over my head and I caught it over my shoulder. As soon as I caught it and turned around I ran face first into a big ass oak tree. I was knocked out for about 5 mintues. I woke up and I had ripped the entire right side of my face off, knocked two of my braces off my teeth and was spitting blood everywhere. My mom and uncle were laughing at me. It was right before my first homecoming and when my "date" saw me that Monday she started crying and said I was going to ruin our pictures. b****. My name is Trey so everyone called me Tree pretty much until I graduated. I went to my 10 year reunion and there were people that still remembered that.
A couple of weeks a go my wife and I were kind of goofing around in bed (not "goofing" goofing) and she pushed me out of bed with her foot. Well My arms were at my side and I couldn't catch myself. I ended up hitting the back of my head on the nightstand. Blood was everywhere. I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital and I felt like I blacked out for a second. I got scared like a little kid. It was weird. I almost started crying like I was 5 or something. I just put a washcloth on it and I was fine. It was no big deal but I know what you mean. Freaky.
I can vouch for this - about 12 years ago, I was playing left field in a church league softball game. I was running full speed to try to catch a blooper and ran into, face-first, my shortstop's head, specifically the back of his head. I remembered the impact and then instantly falling to the ground. I was knocked out cold for a couple of seconds. Blood was coming out of my nose and everyone thought I had broken it for sure. Somehow, I did not as I went to the Emergency Room and the X-rays were negative. I did suffer a concussion - the only time in my life that had happened to me. Looking back at it, I was so lucky not to lose any teeth out of that collision. As for the guy I ran into? All he got out of it was a massive headache, lol!
