Dude, your crazy if you thought that was a real game. It was real only in the sense that it counted in the win/loss column. Their team was still in pre-season mode trying to feel each other out and get some team ball going. That team is nowhere near the same team dominating the league now.

As for the original post, I agree with you. I'm not making any plans to see the Rockets in the finals this year. I will be happy if we can win a mthr-fing damn playoff series.

I think almost everyone here agrees that NewYorker kind of flaky, however we could used a major upgrade at the 1 and 4 position!

dallas opened 0-4, NOT 0-5. They won their game 5 against the suns and they are 48-5 since opening 0-4 for an overall record of 48-9. Get your facts str8 :) The 3 games that Dallas beat the roxs, who was out for those games? Yep, you guessed it, Yao. Who (on the roxs)played on 11-4-06 against the mavs? Yep. Yao. Go ahead and diminish that fact. The mavs are not coasting. They barely won alot of those games during their streaks and are racking up the injuries and decreasing their depth. You can't coast with all these injuries(josh howard's ankle issues go back to wake forest junior yr when he was out with a high-ankle sprain):

The mavs of this decade have always been regular season record-queens. Their best chance of earning a ring was this past season when they lost 4 str8 games to the Heat to be eliminated. It is a slim chance for them to make it this yr, though it still could happen. I think the suns and mavs will have many injuries and will be worn out b4 and as the playoff progress.

You have to be fair in comparisons. Yes, they beat us three straight, but how can you gauge our success against them without our full line up? by your reasoning, we beat the crap out of them the first game so can we say with a healthy team we would sweep them in a series?

I don't see it as smugness, I see it as the "obvious." The Boston game just drove home the point. Our overall talent (especially without TMac or Yao) does not measure up to the elite teams, no mystery. Could the Rockets play over their head, catch the Mavs or Suns in a slump and beat them in a series, absolutely. On the offensive end, the Rockets without TMac and Yao are really challenged as illustrated by the Boston game. The Mavs, Suns, and Spurs can keep running shooters at you all game long. This is going to be tough. I will still cheer, still hope, still beleive that it is possible, but in my heart of hearts I know we just need a few more players. Just keeping it real.

the boston game was in the bag for the first 1 and a half quarters. then the rockets started playing like it and that's why they lost. it's an anomaly not what the rockets are.

Remember when the roxs(with tmac and yao) would build a great lead on a great team and then let it go and lose? http://www.nba.com/games/20061114/SASHOU/recap.html
Then we play them again with only Yao and win:
    http://www.nba.com/games/20061222/HOUSAS/recap.html
Then we play them again with only Tmac and, umm yep we win:
    http://www.nba.com/games/20070124/HOUSAS/recap.html

So if the Yao and Tmac led roxs team can lose large leads to great teams ala the first SA game, then why can't the tmacless and yaoless roxs lose a large lead and ultimately lose to a bottow dwelling team? It suxs either way, but it has happened before.

Yeah b/c the suns were running and gunning as Steve Nash was DNP for the Atlanta, Chicago, and Seatlle teams  . They lost 3 consecutive games when Nash DNP, and they lost by a cobined 46 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the elite teams like the Suns, Mavs, Spurs are Garbage without Nash, Dirk, and Duncan. I would like to see them have our record with either of those stars out of their respective teams for 10 wks

It's just an opinion - nothing more. No need to get angry. Just say you disagree.

We're all Rockets fans ya know...we all want the same thing.

    Why?

I rate him over Magic and Stockton. I've never seen Magic pull of the stuff Nash does night in and night out.

Nash makes it look so easy. He literally can see things develop before the happen - guess that comes from playing soccer.

There's a reason why Nash is the back to back MVP....and it's not points.

Perhaps this is a silly question. But what exactly is a "scrub"?

I agree the Rockets roster is just to top heavy. Mac-Ming can fill a lot of holes and bring the talent level up for pretty much any team, but our team doesn't have enough talent to compete with the best right now.

Not only do the Suns, Mavs, Spurs have better role players they have more of them. The Rockets have failed to surround Ming-Mac with enough talent to give them a real chance of winning a title. We need both of them to pull a KG and demand to be traded if the Rockets don't get better players to surround them with.

We know the team is making Les plenty of money he needs to dig deep into his pockets and get a starting PG and a legit PF.

Pardon, but we were the one who made the roster changes. They had the same starting squad from what anyone would call a fairly successful season.

They have no excuses for that play.

    It's an unfounded, unproven assertion.

With TMac and Yao both drawing doubles, proven 3-pt shooting, proven players in Bonzi, Juwan and Snyder off the bench.... and the BEST defense in the league, I just don't see how you guys can so readily discount this team.

BELIEVE in your team. It's not even hard to do.
