That reminds me of a conversation I had with my ex and her sorority sister from TCU. I told them I never really liked the Greek life due to some bad experiences with a lot of racists at SWT my first couple weekends there. However, I told them I seriously considered joining Sigma Nu because I was friends with a lot of the guys that were starting the SWT chapter. They literally laughed at me for even considering joining that fraternity and I asked them to look up the Delta Gammas from SWT. They did. They stopped laughing. I felt bad because I was friends with a few Delta Gammas when I was there, but I had to put them in there place. On a side note, had I known the great Boyd Tinsley was a Sigma Nu, I probably would have joined.
Seems to me that CBS has more issues here than anyone. First, both their photo and the screen cap for the video on the site are of the cuter, thinner girl in the center. In the photo caption, she's the only one named and in the photo the other two are partially cropped. On top of that, are they hiring people that flunked out of journalism school to write their copy? The last straw for Holloway was a recruiting event in November for DePauw freshmen, for which "blond" and "skinny" sorority members from Indiana University were brought in, she told the Indianapolis Star, for which she has worked as a reporting intern. Are they kidding? "For which" appears TWICE in a single sentence. Holy run on, Batman.
They were kicked off? So was Sigma Chi......which is just now getting started again. Which sucks because I was a charter member of the Theta Tau chapter of Sigma Chi...we worked hard to get it up and running and into a quality house. They got in trouble about 15 years later for drinking, and then they were suspended, and held a party anyway....and STUPIDLY posted pictures up on the web about the party and the chapter got the death penalty from the university. SWT admininstration sucked.... DD
No, they normally just don't let the ugly girls in to begin with (unless they've got rich enough parents).
The first thing I thought of when I read this article was "man they should just make an Omega Mu chapter" Revenge of the Nerds = greatest movie ever.
Sigma Chi's were there when I was. I don't know why the Sigma Nu's were kicked off, just that my sophomore year (1996-97), a lot of guys I hung out with from my dorm were starting it back up.
For which this was a good move, for which would turn out better than to be expected.. and for which i think the sorority girls will have a happy ending...
How hard is it to start up a fraternity/sorority. Let's say a group of friends gets together and none of them like the options available on their campus and don't want to bring any other Greek organization available on their campus. How do you go about setting up a brand new frat/soror?
