He was robbed. He won the popular vote and after they recounted all the votes in Florda it tuned out he was the actual winner.
http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=367 -- Al Gore’s Personal Energy Use Is His Own “Inconvenient Truth” Gore’s home uses more than 20 times the national average Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy. Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES). In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home. The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average. Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359. Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006. Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year. “As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson. In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.
he is being serious but it was a joke. al gore acted like he was about to announce his run, but then they cued the music (it was a joke) was not very funny at all though
Gore drives a hybrid. In spite of the quoted article, his house does have solar. 100% of profits from his movie and book go to reducing global warming. He founded an investment firm to encourage Green industry. His Current TV will be carbon neutral this year. He's also such a hypocrite that he spent years giving powerpoints on the topic to any group that wanted to hear him. Even assuming the numbers quoted in the article are true, we aren't talking about some average joe here. He's an ex VP. I don't know what his security status is, but my guess is that somebody like Al Gore probably needs to light up his property at night in a way most others don't. Still, Until Gore unequivocally says he's not running, expect more of this stuff. No matter what they say, Gore is the guy the Repubs fear most... not only could he win, he would make changes that will leave them hollering.
Jessie Jackson somehow got money to keep the people counting all the votes in Florida and after they were all counted Gore won by less than one thousand votes in that state which should have given him the election. He should have never given up, but since he did we as a country lost in the end. Things will be made right in 2008 though, I hope.
a very sad commentary on American Politics a Good Man . . maybe a Good President but . .not a *good* candidate are we so superficial? Rocket River
This whole attack on Gore for energy use cracks me up. He is the single most important person in bringing the dangers of Global Warming to the world. He gets an Oscar, is up for a Noble Prize, and what do people who are jealous of his popularity do "well...uuumuum yea......but he has a big energy bill!" Children, all a bunch of children.
yeah, there is something wrong alright. It is ashamed that the man with the best mind for the job, might not get it because of hte popularity contest factor.
I would vote for Gore in a NewYorker minute. I'm a fan of Obama's, as well, but I still want to hear more about the "meat" of his positions. IMO, Gore/Obama would be a great ticket, and would win in '08. Make it so. D&D. Holes within Holes.
You know if the guy had won his own HOME state, then the controversy in Florida would have never been a factor and he would have been President. So, yea bring on fatso Al to be the Democratic candidate...other than Hillary, he is the one candidate they can bring out that will assure victory for the Republicans.
