Rafer now has had 8 games where he actually shot 50% or better from the field this season.

He has had 34 games where he shot at or below 40%.

He has had 13 games where he shot below 30%.

He has had 20 games where he scored less points than the total number of shots he took.

37% from the field. 37% from the field. 37% from the field.

Rafer sucks. He's good for nothing. When I hear his name my nose smells dog ****. We should get rid of him and start V-span. Fire JVG!!

(just keeping my promise to Clutch)

Other than shooting, Rafer is an okay PG.

His shooting is inconsistent when shooting wide open.

His shooting is pathetic when contested.

yeah you're right...other than his shooting. his shooting is a big part of his offensive game...he takes almost 14 shots a game. most of them are threes...other than his shooting he's okay...

Now you're getting somewhere...what % of a PG's duty is based on his shooting ability?

Actually that number would be 14 at 50 or better, thats only 75% more...no big deal...in contrast T mac, albeit with less games has...HOLD UP...14, sounds like an accurate way to assess a player to me when our mediocre PG has the same numbers as our superstar SG...

its funny how you compare a guy who should be shooting about 20 to 25 times a game without yao, and who gets paid to score and our primary offensive weaspon to a guy who should be shooting about 7 times a game who is not a shooter

lets compare steve nash to pat burke next......pat burke must be better sometimes he has 100% shooting nights

Sorry, I'm off by 1. Preseason games don't count. Sure he's gonna have great numbers playing in games that don't mean anything. Hey, in my backyard, I'm a 75% 3 point shooter too.

oh wow......did he count the presason games too??? in that case nash who was probably 1 for 1 in the preseason is bettter than pat burke (5-30 or 40)

I'd rather have DJ Augustin or Acie Law running the point for Houston than Rafer Alston.

Inadvertantly you just proved exactly how ridiculous your argument is...you tell me why we're comparing Rafer Alston to other players in the league who's job it is to shoot the ball. That is NOT Rafers job, I repeat NOT his job, it is to get the ball to 111. When they are not in the game like tonight, he's gonna look bad, he's not made to create his own shot, not his strength at all.

You guys with the Rafer hate baffles me. His job is to distribute the ball and get it to Yao and Tmac in a position to score. Shooting is a secondary job of his, its a bonus when he shoots good but shouldn't be held against him if he doesn't. You say we will never win a 'ship with Rafer at the point well we would be a whole lot further away without his distributing, regardless of what point we had in the leauge (minus 5 or so elite). It's like saying sure Deke grabbed 18 rebounds last game but why didn't he block 4 shots too?

I agree the Rockets would be very hard to beat if Rafer was a more consistent shooter. But they would also be very easy to beat if he wasn't such a good distributor. All you guys think shooting is offense it's NOT shooting is a component, the third most important one in a PG to be exact.

Rafer averages more 3-point attempts than assists. So in that case he's not doing his job at all.

That is the prob most people have with rafer. Shooting should be his secondary job, but he makes it his primary with all his jacking and shooting 15 times a game a lot of times. His excuse is always, tmac and coach want me to take those shots.
