Damn you guys are harsh. Give the guy a break, he was really hurting last year. After a whole summer of healing, he's still not 100% yet. That should tell you how ineffective and bad his ankle was last year. Obviously you fat boys never play fullcourt basketball or else you would understand how limiting and ineffective an ankle injury can be on you. This year is his year man!
That's great writing... "I'm not going to be limited," Cato said. "I am going to give 110 percent this year. I'm trying to prove to a lot of people that say I don't deserve or that I got too much." Cato averaged 4.7 points and 4.0 rebounds last season.
Prempeh, two seasons ago, Cato averaged 9pts 6reb 2 blocks in about the same amount of minutes he recieved last year. So to me, when taken into consideration his production the previous year and comparign it to last years, the "im not going to be limited' quote is refering to the magnitude of the surgery/injury he was dealing with last year, and the negative, limiting effect it had on his ability to produce. All this is pretty easy to understand, but only to the man who dares to leave his computer seat to play fullcourt basketball or run, or do any strenous sport consistently. So, I understand why some of you guys are confused as to what his quotes mean since physical activity is such a rarity nowdays.
Is there a doctor in the house? I'm interested in getting some medical analysis of Cato's injuries the past couple seasons. I don't recall hearing too much information about them, but maybe someone from a medical background can help put this in perspective. Oeilpere, Dallas Rocket, anyone?
I have visions of Cato imitating Willis Reed and emerging from the tunnel at Madison Square Garden in game 7 of the finals struggling just to walk and then anchoring his team on to victory and the title...
I saw Cato's interview, and he seemed very sincere. I know that this season, he will diffiantly bring the heat. When he shows up I hope to see apologies from everyone.
Have the Rockets kept secret how bad Cato's ankle injury a state secret? Calvin Hill's kid over in Orlando sat out a year with an ankle injury, and no one I know has accused him of shirking. Like most of us, I have been giving Cato grief all summer, but I have changed my mind: the Rocks must hang together or we all hang separately (with apologies, Ben). I, for one, am waiting to see what effort Cato exerts before I excoriate him again.
BOOSTER Dangerous (but not in my case, of course) to make assumptions about people you don't know...because there's no way that you could know I played 3 years of 5A varsity ball. I was merely stating that that last part of the article was a great example of journalistic style...how it has the quote about how he wants to prove that he deserves his contract, then ends the story with his stats from last year. But you wouldn't know this, since you have never picked up a newspaper in your life.
OOOOO...Em's fightin words Hey, I've been givin Cato the business all summer myself, but you never know... He might actually give us SOMETHING good this year. Hell, if he could average 10,8, and 3(even 2.5) that would be cool. I think he can do that, unless he gets hurt again...in that case we would have no other option but to take his balls!
