[GameChat] What time should we do game chat on Sun.?

    Because of screwed up scheduling on the part of the NBA and a downright STUPID decision on the part of ABC and the Magic, our game against ORL on Sunday will be tape-delayed(even in Houston)

    so the querstion is:

    Do we go ahead and have game chat at the regularly scheduled time(1pm)(with radio pbp if someone wants to do it, I wont) or do we hold off till the tape delay time (5pm)?

    the downside of waiting is that some knob will come in and try to ruin it by telling us what happens (that person will earn a PERMANENT ban if we decide to wait).

    I dont think the streaming services will have the game either till the tape delayed time since they rely on the telecast for source and if there is no telecast in the states then the streaming services probably wont have it till there is one to stream.

    So...speak up guys.....Do we wait or not?

    I vote to wait, I want to see it happening in front of me, I want to wait and find out what happens as it happens.


    btw...if you arent familiar with game chat, ask about it....sometimes it is loads of fun and a great way to do what some of you do in the game thread except in realtime with your fellow Rockets fans

    dude this is r****ded I wanna see the game but now I'll have to stay away from the computer/ESPN until 5, this is STUPID.

    Wasn't this game supposed to be on ABC?

    Well I have NBA audio league pass and can do pbp in a pinch, though it'll be like a minute or two delay. If someone in houston can do pbp off local radio then they can have it, otherwise I can try my hand at it.

    It wasn't suppose to be on ABC, it was scheduled for FSNSW. But since ABC owns the timeslot for NBA games 1pm-5pm TV stations aren't allowed to show games in that time period. Magic decided not to change the time of game because of a road trip the same day.

    R2K i think theres a good chance some ass will go in and tell everyone the score and who won if we do it at 5. I think the best would be to do at 1 and someone do radio/yahoo PBP.

    OR

    We get a group of people to go in at 1 and someone do radio PBP and then at 5 another group goes in and they watch the game on TV.

    but like I said...ban...for the season...I can and WILL keep track of that person's IP address and they will find it difficult to get back in.

    yahoo ...cant trust theirs

    They have been shown to be late or wrong many many times

    I will be there at five regardless, I watch on tv, radio doesnt do it for me
    I need to be able to watch the "little things" that dont get reported on the radio or in the game log.

    Im a fan of the game, Im a fan of good fundamental basketball and it takes more to impress me than fancy dunks.

    good fundamental team basketball...thats my thing and I cant see that thru a radio or on a webpage...I GOTTA SEE VIDEO.

    come on guys....how can you be satisfied with just radio or written webpages??

    Sadly, I can't watch any game that aren't on (crappy) KNWS or ABC so I have to rely on services like Yahoo or radio.
    Nonetheless 5 o' clock.

    as long as Im in there, Im logging, I may not have been at the keyboard, but I did read the log.

    cussing gets you a ban, and you cussed at least a couple of time I saw.

    and thats totally ignoring the multiple offtopic talking while they were attempting to do pbp.

    I'd really like to do the chat at the time the game is broadcast. I have no trouble staying away from finding out the score early. I just know some dipstick who doesnt care if he's banned is going to enter with the screen name RocketsWon9792 or some crap like that. But oh well. I'll still be there. It'll be an interesting experiment should this unfortunate situation ever occur again.

    I remember one time where I had to work the day of a Rockets-Sonics playoff game. I taped the game and was going to come straight home after work, rewind the tape and watch the game without looking at anything that could possibly tell me the score. Well, at that time, I worked at a research institute at Texas A&M, doing followup surveys with people who went through state job-training programs. So, towards the end of my shift, I called one lady who said "sorry, I can't do it right now, the Rockets just went into overtime!" Well, I didn't know who won, but of course as soon as I got home, I had to go straight to overtime since I already know the first 48 minutes were moot! Ah, memories. And the Rockets won that game too. :)

    I would rather the chat be live as the game is occuring, as I won't be watching it at all until you have the opportunity to torrent it R2K

    Maybe it will cheer me up knowing yall can listen to it live :) and at least I can get highlights of what's going on in chat.

    I wonder if they will let 610 broadcast it on the online radio live since they can't show it live?

    got you mixed up with mrdave (who seems to have forgotten the lesson DoD taught him last year)

    You were right to call me on that, I do make mistakes and if you feel Ive done somethign wrong, let me know and ILL tell you why I do it or admit Im wrong if I am.

    oh btw... ftr, this following line is borderline. Its not cussing in the strict sense, but it isnt a word that should be flung around in polite company.

    That's cool. I may behaved better than you remember, or maybe worse, but just don't mix me up with others.

    The "again" was refering to last time you told me I was the only one on your ignore list in the bbs. which wasn't true.
