Lots of talk about JVG and coach of the year, but if it wasn't for CD retooling the roster in just one year the team would be in pretty bad shape.

The only difference in this years team when Yao went down is the players....Battier, Bonzi, & Synder to a lesser extent.

CD did an amazing job of getting some talent in here which is allowing the Rockets to sustain some injuries and still compete.

I think CD should be in these discussions, he has done an EXCELLENT job....

I don't agree with people saying our bench does not match up to the elite, I think it matches up very well. We have lots of different types of players on the bench and even some developing talent.

I like the team this year and going forward....just add a piece here and there and the sky is the limit.

CD for GM of the year....who is with me?

Sorry, but I'm not with you. He is a good GM, but most definitely not the GM of the year.

Who else then? Dallas? Toronto? Utah?

Maybe the Toronto GM...but CD has retooled this roster a ton....

Battier trade was pretty good, but I still think he overpayed

Letting Mike James slip this summer was a big mistake IMO...imagine how much better our PG spot would be if Head wasn't our backup PG

Also he got Bonzi by sheer luck

He really didn't do much else

Toronto GM has been fantastic, I think he is my GM of the year

He has to be GM of the year, he put a team together thats destiny is to win the title. Look at the similarity between the rockets and last year's champion heat:
Former Knick coaches as coach: Van Gundy and Riley
    Dominant Centers: Yao and Shaq
    Dynamic Swingmen: Tmac and Dwade
Playground Point Guards: Skip and Jason Williams
Hall of Fame Back up Centers who went to Georgetown: Dike and Zo
Hustlemen who take charges and shoot 3s: Battier and James Posey
Shooters who dont Play:Novak and last year's Kapono
Big, White 3rd String Centers: Jake and Doleac

    See it is our destiny!!!
Ps: On the cover of NBA live 06 was Dwade and on 07 was Tmac.

Don't forget that both have fatasses in Antoine Walker and Bouncy Whales. And undrafted hustle power forwards in Chuck Hayes and Udonis Haslem.
Damn the Heat and us are really similar...

    Toronto's GM, hands down.

First, he made the Suns good, and in his first year with the Raptors (or 2nd?), they're now a 'contender' in the East. Gotta give the man props...either for being a mastermind or just being at the right place at the right time.

Not with you on this one, more like worst GM of the decade. With a few exceptions, the personnel decisions made since the championship years have been horrendous. It is too depressing to enumerate the utterly wasted drafts, dumb trades, stupid deals, and outrageous contracts. The Rockets have been operating out of a "hole" for years. Our lack of young athletic players was exposed by the lowly Hawks, and will be further exposed in the playoffs. Mutombo, Howard, et al are going to have a tough time keeping up as the season wears on. I love the Rockets, but not high on their managment team.

Sorry but that belongs to McHale of the T-Wolves.

Crappy management, unhappy players, losing multiple picks because of a under the table deal, etc.

Uhh McHale, King, Isiah, Paxson, Kupchak, Weisbrook, THE LIST GOES ON

CD is easily one of the 6 or 7 best GM's in the league over the past 10 years...

his draft's have for the most part been atrocious, yes; but he has always made good trades (draft and eddie griffin aside) and the rockets have always been just a step away it has seemed like over the years....

playoff wins aside, i think the transition from the championship era to today has been a relatively smooth one. sure some picks were blown but stealing tmac and this summer's moves were gems in my opinion.

cd, dumars and colangelo are the best gm's in the league imo. spurs also recruit very well (although that is probably a different topic)

i apologize for being a prick but, almost 6 years? what does that mean??

The Bulls almost won 9 championships in the 90's
The Knicks almost won 30 games last year
    Kobe almost scored 90 pts.?

i believe the Toronto roster doesn't remotely resemble what it was last year? and they are winning, and they are doing it with a not so good coach. I think Colenego should get props to be honest way more then CD.
