Dont know what the deal is but whenever I hit submit or enter, or try to change selection boxes, etc., my computer or the browser (not sure) freezes up for like 20 seconds then goes through. When I access other web pages everything is cool, same when I click on articles or links. Its when there are drop down boxes to select from, dots to click, etc.

    Any advice is appreciated.

What browser do you use? Did you install any add-on for that browser recently?

Is it IE7? Do you know if it has TABs or that the "e" has a yellow orbit around it? If it is IE7, you can start it without plugins or additional objects (whatever may be causing your delays). If so, go to programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (safe mode) and this will allow you to reset ALL the settings under the options.

Another thing you can do is to go back to when you had the computer working well with System Restore. This option is only if you believe you downloaded something that may be causing this. You can always "undo" the restore if that didn't work, but it's worth a shot.

Vengeance, how about helping him fix the stuff? He can download FireFox later... I mean, the guy is having trouble with "A" thing... let's not give him "b" thing to worry about, man... :(

Give us more info on what version the browser is or what operating system you're using. It can help us help you.

Does it happen in Windows Explorer or just IE? Use the keyboard to move around the browser (tab for links, enter for going to the link... space bar to press selected buttons)... try to do the same on other programs...

Im running IE 6 right now. When I tried to run IE 7 I couldnt even connect to the internet. I ran a AVG Anti Virus and it found 4 Trojan Horse viruses I think. Not sure if they were corrupted files or what. To give you an example, when I hit "Submit Reply" for this post, it will stop in the pushed in position and show an hourglass for literally a minute before it shows my posting.

    Thanks for all your help.

Sounds like you have spyware. That pause can come from a program sending info to targets other than the intended website.

For performance issues, you can check how much memory you have left on your harddrive and defragment it, but do it once everything is solved.

Try the other programs from Vengence's sig like search and destroy and adaware.

    Hah........ naw, too easy :D

Anyways, is browser the only one being slow or other applications are slow as well? You could try system recovery, it might work.

I think spyware is the most common problem that causes this to happen.

What kind of websites have you been going to?
