I don't know what it is about him but I am just sick of him. He should not be getting max money. He doesnt play defense. It annoys me he is opting out to try to get more cash when I dislike him to begin with. He is usually very unclutch except for that play before the all star break. His dunks are nice though but he doesn't do them as often.
No, it's just you. Thread title is inaccurate. Should be: "I hate Vince Carter for no good reason." I'd rate this one star if I could.
Agreed. Maybe a few years ago, when it was Vince "Always Injured" Carter. But now he's on track for his third straight season of 24+ ppg, 5+ rpg, 4+apg, 1+spg and 75+ games played in the season. Per 82games.com he has highest Roland Rating on his team. And he's 24th in the league in PER according to knickerblogger. He really is good.
VINCE CARTER'S EMBASSY OF HOPE FOUNDATION The Embassy of Hope is a non-profit foundation established in 1998 by NBA basketball star, Vince Carter of the New Jersey Nets, to help address the needs of children and their parents. Embassy of Hope is a Florida-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Foundations' slogan, "Believing in Your Dreams," represents Vince's lifelong commitment to perseverance and achievement-qualities that have enabled him to excel as an athlete and as a person committed to helping those less fortunate. A Winning Attitude The values embodied in a winning attitude are important to Vince, and he wants to share them with others. Whether it's on the court as a colorful player, in the classroom as a speaker or one-on-one as a mentor, Vince continues to encourage children to work hard so that they, too, may have a chance to experience the same joy of accomplishment and success that he has-both on and off the court. Since its inception, the Embassy of Hope has touched the lives of countless children in the United States. Using money raised through the Foundation's annual "Vince Carter Summer Jam" activities in Daytona Beach, the Embassy of Hope has made a difference for children in Vince's home state of Florida, in his adopted hometown of New Jersey and elsewhere through a number of activities, including: Donating funds to the Wings of Hope Foundation for abused, neglected and abandoned children in Central Florida; Distributing food during the Thanksgiving holiday to needy families identified through the public schools and various social service agencies; Sponsoring a "Believing in Christmas" Party for children from economically disadvantaged homes; Donating funds to the Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach for a "first day of school outift" for underprivileged school children; Donating learning materials so that each student in a rural, agricultural community would receive a take-home canvas bag for study and remediation; Providing tickets to Toronto Raptors home games to school-aged Canadian children encouraging them to do their best at school; Funding a school radio station that would reach into the homes of students in hopes of increasing parent involvement and to communicate parenting skills and social services available; Donating funds to the Sickle Cell Foundation for Camp Jumoke; Donating funds to About Face International to help to educate young people and adults about the acceptance of those with differences; Donating funds to the Children's Aid Foundation in Toronto for "Believing in Your Dreams" scholarships; Awarding "Believing in Your Dreams" scholarships in the Daytona Beach, Florida area;. Donating funds to Halifax Medical Center for the Speediatrics unit that specializes in care for children; Donating the Vince Carter Embassy of Hope basketball court for the disadvantaged area of Dixon Park in Toronto; Donating to The KiD ZONE for underpriviledged children to attend a one-week overnight camp in Toronto; Donating to the Dixie-Bloor Neighbourhood Centre, Toronto's lowest-income area, to assist with their Christmas outreach; Donating to Halifax Urban Ministries in the Daytona Beach area to support those individuals and famillies who are struggling to make ends meet; Donating to the Children's Home Society East Coastal Division to support children and families in need; Donating to the PACE Center for Girls of Volusia/Flagler Counties to assist adolescent at risk girls in a non-residential alternative-counseling center; Donating funds to the American Red Cross for hurricane disaster relief; Donating to the Volusia (Florida) Literacy Council to help promote literacy within the entire community. Dreams For The Future Beginning in 2001, at least two $5000 scholarships have been awarded each year to a boy and a girl varsity basketball player who have maintained a 3.0 GPA and have been active players on their respective teams. The intent of these scholarships is to assist a boy and a girl to attend a school other than a Division I school. Beginning in 2004, the Embassy of Hope Foundation, on the recommendation of Vince and his mother Michelle, will annually award the Annie B. Westbrook Memorial Scholarship to a deserving nursing student at Bethune-Cookman College, Ms. Carter's alma mater. This scholarship is in memory of Vince's great grandmother and Michelle's grandmother who helped instill in them the importance of an education. Reaching Full Potential Due to Vince's philanthropic endeavors and commitment to children and families, the Volusia County school district will name the athletic center in the new Mainland High School (Vince's high school) the Vince Carter Athletic Center. Through the Embassy of Hope Foundations, Vince has established the framework for others to join him in helping children reach their full potential. "When my family and I decided to establish the Foundation, we realized we could make a difference by encouraging young people from all walks of life to believe in their dreams," Vince said. "But we knew we could not do it alone. Just as my success was not reached in isolation, the success of other young people needs the support of many. As I work to enhance the lives of others, I ask you to join me in these worthwhile endeavors." If you wish to support Vince's foundation, send contributions to: Embassy of Hope Foundation P.O. The reason I don't like Carter is because he hasn't been on a cool team since UNC. I bet you liked him then. Seriously. I sound like a child... But he needs a cool/fun/sexy environment.
You get no suppot here either. Vince is still one of the classiest people in the game. Other than the contract some of the same things you say about Vince can be said about T-Mac...where's that thread?
Carter is a great player and fun to watch. Why would I be sick of him? It's not like he's overexposed and on every 3rd commercial. He's great for the NBA and one of the best, if not the best dunker of all time. Again, why would I be sick of him?
agree ... as a basketball player. great for the community, bad for the team. When Tmac dances on stage with nelly when he's out with a bad back, I'll say the same about him.
Yeah, it's great for the NBA for guys to tell the other team what play you're about to run in an effort to sabotage your own team. That's definitely something the NBA needs more of. What a stand-up guy.
Vince is a great and entertaining basketball player with his variety of offensive moves. I think that's what the money is for. But he doesn't know how to play to win. If you don't coach him well, you'll only end up with a great basketball show.
If I were VC I would want to get traded to a team like Miami where he wouldn't need to be THE star. He's obviously a tremendous talent that can change and take over a game at any moment but he simply can't be relied on to finish out games which is why if he played on a team where he would still be a focal point but probably not the #1 option I think he would succeed. Trade him for Fatoine, Posey and Simien or something like that. It's better than VC opting out and leaving for nothing or banking on the unknown in a S&T.
