Yes because Chuck Hayes minutes are so invaluable to us. Depth is never a bad thing, KVH would provide that at other key positions, the 4. Snyder will get his chance when Bonzis gone, but KVH is totally different type of player.

I agree. If there are no other possibilities, the Rox are willing to throw some money out there, and Van Horn wants a new swimming pool, I say why not?

KVH is a semi-slasher player.. He could play as a quick center.

I have a feeling that if Van Horn does join the Rockets, most of you guys will be clamoring for the Rockets to talk him back into retirement.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that happens.

KVH can't guard PFs, and he can't guard SFs. He can probably guard the Chuck Hayes and Reggie Evans of the NBA, but that is about it.

Howard is better than KVH about everything except the the couple extra feet range for a 3 ball. Battier is a tweener (SF/PF) like KVH but better in every way. Hayes is a much better rebounder and defender as a PF.

And don't let KVH extra inch or two fool you, he can't defend 4s any better (probably less so) than Battier and Tmac can (if we want a spread the floor 3 point shooting line-up around Yao). Snyder and Wells are better SFs.

Sorry, I would not want to give up minutes from Howard, Hayes, Battier or Tmac to make room for KVH.

Another vet PG who can handle the ball securely and shoot with confidence is much more important than adding another bigman to the team.

This has got to be a set-up. I know the plan that the haters have come up with. When Van Horn comes in and allows easy buckets, no boxing out, and poor/late help D on top of rebuilding the twin towers right before our eyes on offense, the haters will call for Van Gundy's head with resounding force.

    How about another suggestion, Dickau.

Van Horn is soft. Temperment-wise, he's exactly what this team does NOT need. We need the 2007 equivalent of Charles Oakley, someone who delights in banging around under the basket and can hit a jumper out to 12 feet or so.

Man, adding KVH to the Rockets would instantly make the team 20% softer. Heading into the playoffs, we don't need any more pu$$ies on the roster.

the zero-tolerence rule this season really takes away the advantage from the so-called "hard" teams. the league is different today than 10 years ago, back then, it is all about intimidation, but can't do that no more. players get kicked out from game for anything. so i think its ok to be a soft team(or a non-thuggish team).

KVH was trash in Dallas. Just say no.

I'll give you that, but KVH is mentally soft as well. We need a hard-nosed guy or two on this team -- someone with that Bobby Sura attitude. KVH is completely the opposite. His playoff averages are significantly lower than his regular-season averages. He has no heart. If he did, he wouldn't have been passed over by every team in the league this offseason, at age 31.

    Just say NFW to KVH.

Huh? The zero tolerance rule (or "respect for the game" rule, as the refs call it), is about showing off referees over calls. It has nothing to do with being physical with the opposing team or talking to opposing playes.

That said, I think the term "soft" is overblown and misused in the sports media. Yao, for example, was labled "soft" because he didn't scream, even though he bangs more guys in the paint than almost all other players.

KVH's problem isn't that he's soft, it's that he's just not that good. His 3 pt shot is rather mediocre, his rebounding ability is mediocre, and injuries has even robbed him of his mediocrity. I don't think he provides anything that, for example, Battier doesn't already give you at the 4.

What the Rockets do not have at the 4 is size. Some big post defender/rebounder type, like they used to have with Cato, would probably make more of a contribution.

Yup. KVH's career has been steadily on the decline for years. He should stay retired.

I think it sounds right to be honest, the PF situation only seems right at the moment without Yao there. Imagine if he came back I don't know how effective Juwan is going to be

Any takers on Kwame Brown? Or has his "potential" finally run out?

Seriously. I still think we would have beaten them in the first round two seasons ago if he didn't get hurt.

I literally cheered when he came into the game, and was pissed whenever he went out.
