Anyone know anything about this? My mother has been experiencing severe hearing loss for years. She was recently referred to an allergist who told her she was allergic to malt. She cut it out of her diet (not an easy thing to do) and her hearing cleared up in 36 hours. She also has more energy than she's had in her entire life. The allergist also told her that while a malt allergy was very rare it was usually shared by offspring. So my sister went to get tested, tested positive for it, got off malt and feels better than ever too. So now I naturally figure I have it too. But it's totally impossible to find info on this on the web. Anybody ever heard of this allergy? Know a good source for what to avoid? Malt is everywhere and it's not always clearly marked, so I was hoping to find a resource online telling me what I can and can't eat or drink.
Is it specifically malt or grains in general? I've seen stuff regarding people allergic to malt, wheat, grains, beer and other grain by-products. Maybe you can visit a doc's office and ask or ask your relatives to get you info if they have it?
