I'm enjoying watching RM95 get worked up into D & D level froth over an utterly fake story.

I like to have sex with women. It's pretty awesome.

Don't care much for all the other stuff.

Okay, now that I have stated my definitive opinion the mods may lock this thread.

i hadn't thought of the whole "he KNEW she wanted a kid" angle...if THAT was true, he's at fault too for not telling her up front.

But if they both went in it thinking it was just a casual relationship (which I INFERRED, because she slept with another/other guys), I just really don't see the angle where they're both at fault to an equal degree.

I guess I'm not very feministy...I mean, I take the woman's side on many issues, but just looking at this story objectively, she lied, he got revenge.

Then again it's bogus, so I don't know why I'm even thinking about it...

This sounds like something Aaron Eckhart's character in In The Company of Men would do to Glen Close's character in Fatal Atraction.

and I'm reminded of an old Italian saying.....

Oh hell no. How dare you grossly misquote me like that? What I said was that women would always be seen as second class citizens until they stop treating themselves as such. Sweetheart, I gurantee that I am the biggest proponent of feminism of all men that you know. You've heard me make similar arguments to this reguarding African Americans, and the human race, two groups that I belong to, and you agreed. Now, all of a sudden such a statement becomes harmful simply because I apply it to women??

It's true! If women don't start seeing their place in society and self esteem as things that are determined by themselves and independent of the viewpoints of men, then they will constantly be considered second class citizens by the world as a whole. Why? Because their psychology will always tell them that they are only as good as men think they are. That, to me, having been primarily raised by a strong and independent single mother, is a shame and entirely anacceptable.

The actual gist of what I was saying was that women should stop striving primarily for the respect of men (I mean, why would you want so badly validadation from a group you yourself say is extremely flawed?) and start working towards the betterment of themselves. Know who you are through yourself, through God, but not through the opinions of others. The rest will follow.

I never grossly misquoted you. I never even quoted you at all. I made a back handed comment refering to the gist of what you said. Had I actually quoted you I would have said something like " my jackass fiance' said ' women are always going to be viewed as second class citizens." That would be a gross misquote.

What I was getting at was that maybe you had a point in what you were actually saying. However you pretty much pissed me off when you said it so I wasn't really listening anyway. I will admit that. I could have very well taken your comment out of context because I felt highly insulted.

As a woman I can tell you that it really isn't just a female problem. I don't think I'm a second class citizen however, behind closed doors, the majority of men do think that. That where you get the "sit there and be pretty' mentality. Women are exploited by men day in and day out and even you do it at times. Regardless of what you think we are treated like we are less than men. However taking a stand is a double edged sword, because men always flip it and make women you do stand up for themselves and the rights into the bad guy. I mean come on almost everything that men think about women has a underlying negativity to it.

I don't get my self esteem from you. You can hurt it of course, but my self esteem is not contingent on what you think of me. I love you dearly and I want you in my life but I don't need you. I'm me with or without you, so don't think for one minute that who I am is determined through you. But on the other hand have you ever noticed how most men tend to define me thru you?

What men think about women is so important because men hold a majority of the power in this world. As long as we live in a male dominated society a man's opinion of me will be important because I can do manythings on my own but most women's ultimate end result depends on what men think. It sucks but its true. You can try to combat that thought however you want to but you aren't a woman so you really can't tell me what its like to be a woman. You certainly don't know me better than I know myself.

I'm not saying women need validation from men. We don't. Most men couldn't cut it as a woman. We do however need respect from men, because men are the major driving force of the society we live in. Without respect we merely become tokens. So yes I will continue to demand respect for you and every other man I know because I'm just as much a person as you are.

As a woman, I will always demand the respect I deserve because men need women as much as we need them. Men, however, are just to stubborn to believe that they need anyone much less a woman. Because needing a woman for some reason seem to make men feel emasculated. God forbid a woman can do something better than a man. The world will fall apart.

What I want to know is why AstroRocket gets CAPITAL letters but astrorockette does not? Hm? HM?!

It's obviously because astrorockette is forced to name herself in the diminuitive in order to assuage the egos of men who feel the need to distinguish themselves as superior by virtue of their access to capital letters. There is an obvious double standard at work here, and frankly, I am ashamed to have a penis.

Wow, you know you make some valid points, astrorockette, but before I fully agree with you... I'll need to see some pictures.

(I keed! I keed! Oh, c'mon, it's practically an all-male board. What do you expect?)
