T-mac did shy away from the ball and I can't understand why JVG didn't have him dribble the ball up the court. Even if they doubled him high that would leave a man open near the basket. It's like T-mac doesn't want the responsibility of being a leader in the clutch.

When Yao gets back I bet T-mac will go back to just dumping it in to Yao and watching instead of leading the team.

    thanks superfob and matpio.
well i should agree and you should all realise we're doing all of this without yao. it's ahrd to understand because we're doing so good even without him..and that's not letting us realise the things we could do when he gets back.
I believe that when yao ming returns and we ever have to play the mavericks..let it be playoff or anything a pick up on the streets even!Know that the odds tilt completely on our side.
Conclusion...this is just how the dice rolls guys.

If Yao plays tonight we win by 15 going away. We just have to keep it close in the standings until Yao gets back. Once the playoffs start there's not a team in the Western Conference (with the exception of Phoenix) that we wont' crush in a 7 game series.

I'm beginning to question if we really are that good as our record shows. I mean who have we beaten recently that is considered a good or great team? Majority of the teams played in Feb and even Jan were crappy teams that we should have won (besides Spurs). But the rest were just ok or sucked...I'm not hatin on the Rockets but if we look at their schedule...this is reality.

True. Everyone is just upset because this game was there for the taking. I can't wait to find out what happens by next Thursday, will a backup PG be on this team by next week. The Rockets will play the Heat before the trading deadline.

I'll say this: Luther should have played the 4th quarter, not Rafer. Rafer never should have entered the game in the 4th quarter at all. When it's obvious he has the jitters and is off-kilter, JVG must sit him down. If Luther had played the entire quarter instead of coming in late, I think he would have done better at the end. Rafer is my #1 playoff concern by far. Maybe this pushes the Rockets into doing something the strengthen the position.

My friends, we got a firsthand taste of what Rafer will be like in the playoffs. Jittery, unsure of himself, more TOs than normal, fewer assists than normal. He is a mentally weak player.

It's safe to say we choked this game away by giving up a 6-0 closing run. But the playoffs aren't in early February. Just remember late last season the Spurs choked the Mavs away in the 2nd half of a "statement" game. By playoff time, the Mavs were better.

We didn't have Yao and still should have won. We missed FTs and still should have won. This loss punched me in the gut but I'm actually encouraged. Despite all the negatives, our defense was so good we still had a chance to win. Maybe losing tonight will keep the players hungry and make them strive harder. It hurts but this loss could be good for us in the long term.

No bright side, indeed. I said it before, and I'll say it again:

    F THE MAVS

I hope the Nazi and Jason Ferry twist and break their ankles in the 3 point contest. Houston Cougar great Damon Jones is guaranteed to win!

No, FTs were not it, Dallas was even worse than us, and players will have some subpar FT games just like they have games where they can't miss...eventually the law of averages will work out the same.

It was other things like Bonzi not hustling (at least 2 or 3 times this game alone) and giving Dallas second chance opportunities (they scored on every one I can remember).

But EVEN with that there is one thing that's just inexcusable: not getting your best player the ball when you COULD have in the last minute of a close game. This is especially worrisome because come playoff time, teams will naturally depend on other guys to make decisions with the ball, and Yao and McGrady end up being frozen out by their own teammates then it will be an early May summer vacation for us this year.

I agree. It "doesn't matter" that Yao was out. That was our game. That was our win. We should win this game, because we lost not by 20, but by 3!!!! Free throws...I couldnt forget about luhter air ball for 3. He sucked, Skip too

But now it's an All STar Game. Great time for the rest and i think after that we should beat Miami.

Just got home from the game. We lost that at the end of the 3rd with the lineup of Alston, Head, Hayes, Deke, and Howard. Avery outcoached us, plain and simple. Granted we missed free throws and layups, but the lineup I mentoned above has no business on the court. None of them can create their own shot. Atrocious.

This is my biggest fear and the reason that I have wanted V-Span to have been backing up Rafer all year....at least by now we would have found out if he could handle it.......when Rafer stinks.....but now it is too late for that, we need to trade Wells or Sura for a solid backup PG like Watson or Atkins.

    Rafer is a mental midget....

What a bunch of f***ing garbage! "Shied away"? LMAO! Is ASKING for the ball only to have it swung the to the opposite side of the court "shying away" from the responsibility? When did McGrady EVER shy away from a big shot? How many does he have to take -- and make -- for you to get the point?

But don't mind me, just keep posting your YOF garbage...then you will have someone post a counter TOF garbage, and around and around we go...

Well he shied away from the free throw line.........especially in the 4th quarter....Tmac played ok.....and Dallas was denying him the ball.

The funny thing is that Tmac defered to Luther for a wide open 3 late...and if he hit that, the team probably wins....

    Dang !!
