Hey guys, i was just wiondering with yesterdays trade how we sent a package of a TE and a player. I thought you couldnt send a TE and a player in one deal. Am i wrong?? Also i heard that we got another TE back in the deal. How does this work?? any help would be great. Thanks
We use our TE to get Jake; then they use their TE (any one know how much it worth?) to get Padget. it's TE for a player trade, and there are two of them happening at the same time.

It doesn't matter what their TE was. They only used $998,967 of it to get Padgett. We now have a TE of $998,967, which is pretty useless.
And how is the TE created?? is there a TE created in every trade?? Does that mean that they now have a TE worth whatever we paid for Jake??
They actually didn't have to use a TE since Padgett was a minimum salary player. They used a Minimum Salary Exception to get Padgett. but yeah, it stilll generates a brand new TE for us...pretty useless though.
If two players salaries are identical there is no trade exception created. We used $2.9 million of our $4.2 million TE to acquire Big Jake. That left us with a $1.3 million TE, $4.2 - $2.9, which expired at midnight last night. We then traded Padgett to Memphis, a separate transaction as viewed from our side, and in exchange, we took back nothing, which created a $998,967 trade exception good for another year, for what that's worth. Memphis, from their side, basically sent Big Jake to us for nothing, giving them a $2.9 million trade exception, good for a year. They then acquired Padgett with another trade exception they already had.
