you mean pancho's?I haven't seen one in ages!Did they decide to retire the chain of restaurants?I used to love the sopapillas
As I do not have high expectations for service- I'm ok with near self service like Cafe Express, Frank's downtown on Travis, or Niko Niko's. If I'm with my wife and want her to feel special the best for service IMHO are: Houston's on Kirby @ Westpark-I like the Hawaiin ribeye or Ribs-good coffee Benjy's in the Village Vic and Anthony's Capital Grill Sunday Brunch at Brennan's I waited tables in Austin from 1974 to 1978 at Pelican's Wharf, barback at Veranda, waiter and prep / cook at "Bean's" downtown, waiter and barback at PTI on Anderson Lane (horrible place), and runner at the "Opry House" --by far the hardest work I ever did- prepared me well for dealing with difficult clients you cannot make happy. Survival and combat training.... Good training for marriage and parenting. People can be so rude- and if you can just grit your teeth and smile you will make more money and get thru it. I never -ever mistreat wait staff -it would be like child abuse. If my wife or son are ugly or rude to a waitress or waiter I preach to them about respectable manners and pride in social graces.
best service at a cheap Mexican restaurant (which is often terrible if you don't speak Spanish) El Parraiso on Fairview I agree with Jeff, as well, all the Barnaby's have excellent service...but then again, I think the male waiters are hitting on me.
Shout out to Rachel at Triple Crown in west Houston. When I go in there for poker, I walk through the door, put my name on the sign-in sheet, and when I'm at the bar, there's a Ziegen Bock waiting for me. It brings a tear to my eye everytime.
having worked at CFA for 4 years i can say, they cram having good customer service down your throat. it's what they pride themselves in. and it shows.
True, some people get rude and get all upset with the waitstaff... that's not something I feel the need to do.... I saw someone get REALLY upset at Subway not too long ago because they didn't think they were giving them enough of each thing they asked for on the sandwich....
Thanks for the info. I figured they must have taken pride in that area because just from the greetings at the drive thru, etc.... it all seems very friendly.
Far Niente in Glendale CA. The place has amazing service. It is a place that costs a little more than what I normally spend on food. But the wife and I go there for birthdays or other special occasions. On only our third time there a waiter who we had had before brought out what my wife likes for her salad, normally. We only go in there maybe once every 6 months, and it had only been two times we had been there before. I was very impressed. That was in addition to what is always very courteous and great service. I can't say enough about the food as well. Everything there is great.
Piattio's near the galleria has great service. I am sure anyone who has gone to the galleria and has taken 59 home has passed it. it is W. Alabama right before 610.
