Sampson would be nothing more than insurance. Mutombo is playing hurt right now. If Mutombo goes down, the Rockets won't have anyone to play center. Sorry, 6-6 Chuck Hayes won't cut it. But, heck, if Jampson plays hard and ingratiates himself to JVG, he could be invited back next year as a young big man off the bench. Can't hurt to have depth at the 4 and 5.
