Etan Thomas: "I'm not putting up with any garbage from Brendan Todd Haywood"

I have to say that a lot of this falls on coach jordan not beong able to have control over his players and demand respect from him. I mean yeah gil is young and all and is gonna make immature decisions like opening his mouth pre-maturely, but to have two of your players go at it in practice is intolerable. that is lack of team discipline and that has to start with the head coach. no excuses. "attitude reflect leadership, coach"

Which is why the day after the 2nd game, Eddie Jordan made his comments about not wanting to see Yao for a while.

BTW, I think Haywood pulled out 3 of Thomas' braids earlier, not just one.

 

This may be a dumb question. Why Ethan Thomas called Haywood "Brendan Todd Haywood"?

 

It's not a dumb question. In American culture, growing up, the only time you'd get called your name (First Name, Middle Name, Last Name) is either by your mother or your teacher, and it usually happens when they're mad at you. For example Haywood's mom could have yelled at one time "Brendan Todd Haywood! Get in the house! You are in big trouble mister." So for Etan Thomas to do this, it's just kind of demeaning, insulting, talking down to etc....it's nothing major, just silly and funny.

 

His middle name is Todd, as well.

 

That line is classic. "Brendan Todd Haywood"

 

Reminds me of the old sportscenter gag where an anchor (I think it was John Anderson) would show a baseball highlight of someone hitting into a double play or striking out with the bases loaded and say, "Brendan Todd Haywood!! (used as an example) You clean up your room now!!" lol..
