btw, no one's posted about the Dixie Chicks' horrendous showing accepting awards. What was up w/that? The main little one didn't seem drunk.. just seemed like a complete moron. They had to be, collectively, the most unprepared and poor-spoken celebrities i've ever heard at an awards show or even in an interview
What's the deal with Don Henley cheering for the Dykesy Chicks BEFORE he revealed who the winner was...? I would have been pissed were I one of the other nominees. I'll still sing along to "Boys of Summer", though.
Yeah, I thought it was some kind of a joke, but if you have to explain it the day after.....well.....it's probably not a very funny joke.
Per What: "This is by far the best grammys awards I've seen in a while. Mary J. was unbelievable. Corin Baily Rae and John Mayer and John Legend was great, too." I really enjoyed Mary J. Blige, Corin Baily Rae, John Legend, and even John Mayer. I am not a country music fan. Rascal Flats singing the Eagles "Hotel California" will be the music playing in hell if I end up there. I am no Eagles fan-so Don Henley cheering for the Dixie Chicks seemed to fit for this awards show. I really do not understand why the Dixie Chicks could win so much-but I do not listen to them - so it is not for me to judge. I'll never buy a CD by them-nor the Eagles.... Henley's little joke with Scarlett Johanson did not work- too much cocaine -Henley. I am proud for Mary J. Blige though-she is authentic.
What's the deal with Scarlett Johansson not cheering for Justin Timerblake BEFORE he revealed who the winner was...? She's only sleeping with him.
i cant believe it.. i agree with you total bs. TI should have won best rap. where was lil wayne and birdman?
Simmons running diary of the event... ______ The Black Eyed Peas come out to introduce "Best R&B album." I saw Fergie at the Celebrity Go-Kart Race last week and she was so unimpressive, my friends and I argued about whether she was one of the top 1,000 attractive famous females on the way home. I'm not making this up. (Note: I was in the "there are definitely 1,000 female celebs who are prettier than her" camp.) Anyway, Mary J. Blige wins for "The Breakthrough" and thanks Jesus Christ AND God. Let's hope they're watching together. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/blog/index?name=simmons
Hell has truly frozen over when Bill Simmons starts writing about the Grammys. From Simmons..... "Finally, some good music: The Chili Peppers belting out "Hey Oh." Did you ever think these guys would still be good after two full decades?" Need I say more?
Al Gore was out there for the same reason as Samuel L., Luke Wilson and Christina Ricci - crossover promotion. Same reason for David Spade and those chicks from How I Met Your Mother. All of their shows/films are owned by companies owned by Sony. Black Snake Moan and whatever Wilson's latest craptacular is are both on Sony. An Inconvenient Truth is on Paramount (owned by Sony) and the Spade and Mother shows are on CBS. Gore was doing some pre-Oscar stumping just like the Grammy's gave a lot of time to Jamie Foxx (introducing), Beyonce (performing) and Jennifer Hudson (introducing) because Dreamgirls is Paramount. Even Scarlett Johansson was out there to promote her upcoming CD of Tom Waits covers on Rhino (also owned by Sony). I saw CBS stars interviewed on the red carpet. Frankly, if Terrence Howard wasn't in Crash (Lions Gate owned by Sony), I doubt he would've been allowed to introduce his girlfriend, Mary J. Blige. Hell, even Tony Bennett gave a shout out to Target calling them one of the best sponsors he'd ever had - cue the Target ad since they were one of the main Grammy sponsors.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/blog/index?name=simmons 8:39 -- Pink presents for best R&B female singer as we frantically switch from CBS's HDTV channel to CBS's non-HDTV channel. As we're flicking, Mary J. Blige somehow beats Beyonce. I give up. Did anyone under 45 vote for these awards? LOL!
Blasphemy! Mother's Milk was one of their best albums. "Knock me Down" is still my favorite RHCP song.
Best commercial? The Prince one thanking the Superbowl fans and viewers (which had better musical performances in it than most of what I saw during the show).
