I say we target Varejao. He is a great young talent that is physically more capable of guarding the 4-5, unlike Chuck "Hang on for the ride" Hayes. I wonder if Cleveland would let him go for that. His playing time has decreased lately. Plus the guy looks like a mix between Side Show Bob and Carlito from WWE. Who better to battle for the boards? LOL. Seriously, he would be my target. Interesting enough this deal works> Snyder for Varejao Hmmmm!
I'm sorry, but there's is absolutely no way I would put Snyder in any deals right now, especially not for that guy. Kirk's going to be huge for us.
Prediction: Rockets trade a future second round pick to the Sacramento Kings for Point Guard Jason Hart. Hart is a JVG type player, great defender and very good size for a PG. He played well for the Bobcats a couple of seasons ago. His contract expires this season and he only makes $1,680,000.
2nd trade prediction: Rockets trade Bonzi Wells and Bob Sura to the Pistons for Dale Davis and Ronald "Flip" Murray. With the recent emergence of Kirk Snyder, it makes it easier to trade Bonzi. Pistons clearly want Bonzi and have no need for Davis or Murray. Murray is good combo guard who can play PG. When Billups was out last month, he had games with 12, 9 and 8 assists. Davis would fill a huge need that can play center and power forward. He is a great defender with size who could guard players like Duncan, Amare, and Boozer something I don’t have confidence in Howard and Hayes. He is 37 but you would only expect him to play around 15 minutes a game. Add Sura to match the salaries and you have a match.
I want P.J. Brown and Damon Stoudamire. Memphis trades Pao to Chicago for NY's #1, Hinrich, P.J. Brown, and whoever else. Memphis then buys out P.J., setting him free to go to a contender and we trade Sura and Padgett's contracts to Memphis for Damon. We wind up with Damon, P.J. and a trade exception worth $4,798,967, good for another year. The trade needs to go down by Tuesday.
I really would love for Bonzi to work out for this team. I think having him and Snyder on the bench makes this team better, but I doubt they both get playing time together. If I were forced to trade one I'll probably trade Bonzi b/c of both Snyder's defense/slashing ability, and the fact that Bonzi would net you more on the market. We definteley need a backup pg and another big, but is it possible to get them both in one deal? I think trying to make a move with Indiana may be possible. The trade with Golden State made trading Jeff Foster and his contract possible. Indiana could also use another scoring option outside of J O'neal and Dunleavy. I'd give them a call and see if they'd bite on a Bonzi/VSpan/Sura/Padgett for Foster/D. Armstrong/ and D. Harrison. Why does Indiana do this? Well Bonzi gives them extra scoring for the playoff's, but at the same time they have an eye on next year's FA market. Even if Bonzi's a cheap rental for them they clear his contract, Sura's contract, and Padgett's contract while getting rid of Foster's. That gives them some flexibility headed into next year to get some help. It also gives them a younger option at PG with "upside". Why does Houston do it? Well, we get a very serviceable big man in Foster who is a JVG kind of guy. He could even step over and play the 4 if needed against bigger more versatile guys. He's someone we can keep if Deke doesn't decide to come back. Armstrong is another JVG guy who is a great teammate. He's a vet pg who can handle the ball and makes very little mistakes, and gets after it on the defensive end. Oh, and he's not affraid to take it to the rim all the way. Harrison is a young backup center for future consideration, not needed in the deal, but doesn't hurt.
Your case for Indiana is interesting and almost believable, but there is one problem. Indiana has found itself in the undesirable position of being the new Portland Jailblazers. Their fans are fed up with it already. Bonzi, like it or not, is the one guy on our team who has a history full of negative incidents. I just don't see Indiana bringing in another possible trouble maker. Offer them Shane Battier right now and they'll probably throw us whatever we want, but they aren't going to want Bonzi. And yeah, there is no way in hell we're parting with Battier.
I'd LOVE that. Adding P.J. Brown and Stoudamire to our team would enable the Rockets to compete with ANYBODY this year.
If the bulls were to part with Hinrich, before either Gordon or Duhon, it would be unconscionable, especially for a soft big, like Gasol.
Now you're thinkin! Deals like these make sense. Most people on here are talkin' bout home-run deals that would never even sniff a GM's thought process.
I think you are under-estimating what Varejo (however ita spelled). The guy is a monster rebounder and seems needed more than Snyder in the play-offs. Snyder is behind how many people in the line-up. Not hating on Snyder but I see a big need for the 4-5.
Not at the expense of Snyder we don't. Wells will opt-out and Snyder is our only big guard and he's young too. Cleveland is looking for a point guard who can take some of the playmaking duties off of Lebron. Cleveland wouldn't trade Varejao for any of our point guards.
d armstrong lindsey hunter steven hunter chucky atkins p.j brown These are some dudes that I wouldn't mond on our team by the trade deadline.
I will kick CD in the face if he does such a dumb deal. Flip Murray disappeared in last season's playoffs and hasn't been heard from since. Dale Davis hasn't seen a productive minute since Rik Smits left.
Send a Cleveland GM to this board, let him see all the Vspan talk, and he might be willing to give up Lebron for Vspan.
