This is by far the best grammys awards I've seen in a while. Mary J. was unbelievable. Corin Baily Rae and John Mayer and John Legend was great, too.
I've found it somewhat boring so far. Sometimes, I just watch the Grammys and get this overwhelming feeling that it's all style over substance. I did like Mary J. Blige's performance though, she was great. I'm waiting to see RHCP and Justin and then I'm calling it a night.

Was I the only one who noticed how political it was? Al Gore. Dixie Chicks winning everything. I found it nauseating. And does Shakira have any other songs? I swear, that song is 5 years old. Oh, and the RHCP song sucked too. on a scale of 1-10, i give it a 0.
Police = Awesome Justin Timberlake (first performance) was killer as was the Rae, Mayer, Legend performance. Dixie Chicks were ok, if boring. Beyonce was ok, if boring. The country medely of Eagles stuff was terrible. Shakira is the worst, not just was, but is. Mary J. was fantastic and I'm not a fan. Ludacris/Mary J/E,W&F were ok. James Blunt was ok, if boring. Smokey and Lionel were classics. Chris Brown...I don't even remember the song. Xtina sings great and that was a cool cover. Chili Peppers were boring. Chad Smith was dead on when he said we need more rock bands. Rock music is becoming completely irrelevant. Sad.
Hey, who else thought the Grammy Island was a ridiculous concept? Putting people out in the middle of the audience like that was confusing for everyone. And what sound guy thought it would be ok to pass around a hand held mic for winners? ugh.
I also agreed with Will Ferrell. (C'mon... They look exactly the same.) It always goes in waves. People have to get sick of this crap soon, right? We need another Bon Scott/Angus Young to emerge. (or whomever you prefer. I just really like that idea.)
I thought it was ridiculous that they pulled a reality type of twist this year on a segment of the show. "Viewers, call in now and vote who gets to sing with Justin Timberlake." I thought the Grammys were supposed to be the top-notch award in music and they have something like this on there. You don't see that at the Oscars. "Viewers call in now to see who will star with Tom Hanks in his next feature film." Just seems MTV Award-ish.
Totally Will Ferrel. I don't think we even need AC/DC. I just think it would be nice to have a rock band or two that isn't retro or electronic or tuned down to C or metal or enamoured with rap. Thing is, I've found a lot of good one's recently. They just aren't popular. Between Chad Smith and Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters, you might have the two best rock drummers on the planet at the moment.
Actually, more American Idol-ish. The audience participation is ridiculous for something like, "Hey, you can make a STAR!" No, we can't. At least the winner was from H-Town. Between the bad TV and movie crossovers (Christina Ricci and Samuel L. in Black Snake Moan by Sony Pictures - Sony owns CBS - or the chicks from How I Met Your Mother) and the call-in crap, it went too far. Hell, even Tony Bennett plugged Target!
Ah yes, remember the good ole' days when Beck, Radiohead, and Eminem were nominated for best album. So long ago....
