Exactly. Right now we are trying to win - that's why we brought Shane Battier over. Right now which of these two players would help us and could be the "x factor" in the playoffs? That would be Bonzi Wells. He might not be as athletic as Snyder or defend as well as Kirk but he is definately the better offensive player. He demand double team. He could be the X factor in the playoff this year (if we keep him till then).

For the playoff run this year - Bonzi Wells is more important. However Bonzi isn't getting any younger. He's getting older and heavier. Plus he might sign else where next year.

Thats why we have Snyder. He's a keeper. Snyder brings us athleticism and height. We finally have a player who slash and finishes. He can jump high!! He's a good defender and a better shooter than Bonzi Wells.

    Now: Bonzi
    Future: Snyder

If we had to get rid of one - I would pick Snyder. Because even if Bonzi plays with us this year - he might not resign with us next year.

He's referring to what the Suns have done to Yao in the past. The problem is Tracy didn't play in those games.

If the Suns commit 3 guys to shutting Yao down, Tracy will destroy them. Tracy's presence in the game frees Yao up to do his thing. Hard slashers like Snyder can also make teams pay.

You'd never be able to get the ball across half-court.

I listened to JVG's press conference. He said, point blank, that Kirk and Bonzi will not be in the rotation together. He said it creates too much of a "glut" in the rotation -- McGrady, Battier, Bonzi, and Kirk are all SG/SF players.

The Rockets have 10 players who are legitimate potential rotation players in the playoffs -- Alston, Head, McGrady, Snyder, Wells, Battier, Howard, Hayes, Yao, and Mutombo. At least one, and probably two, of those players will have their minutes significantly reduced when we get everyone back healthy.

Yao's problem in those games was not on the offensive side. It was that he could not stay on the court due to foul trouble.

that makes more sense. i was thinking of a possible playoff matchup when we have a full team.

bonzi will come in handy against the suns. any post player will. i guess i'd be happy to keep him on the team the rest of the year even though we have needs at the 1 and 5.

Agreed but in my opinion they are different options for different teams. Against the Spurs, we need Bonzi. Against the Mavs, I like using Kirk more.

That's why I think each of them can be a contributor in a playoff run.

That's one approach. But I don't it's one JVG will feel comfortable with. He wants to have a set, consistent rotation. Players don't like it if their minutes vary wildly from game to game.

Two? Deke is the very obvious choice. Then, according to JVG, the other will be either Bonzi or Snyder. IMO, both Chuck and Juwan remaining in the rotation is questionable. In the playoffs, we will be down to Yao, Tracy, Shane, Rafer, Luther, (Bonzi or Snyder), (Juwan or Chuck) plus an 8th player based on matchups.

Gotta go with Wells. He has had a bad year but some of that falls on JVG. Im not saying Jeff handled the situation poorly, I am just saying it hurt Wells a lot.

But you cant forget what he did last year against the Spurs in the playoffs. I bring it up all the time. He was averaging what 28ppg? Nearly put the Spurs away single handedly. He posted up, hit jumpers, got steals, was passionate, rebounded, got to the line, and was a leader. No wonder he has such sentiment for the Kings, he played his best basketball that run. You should never cut out an all-star caliber player. Once again no offense to JVG but if Rudy was coaching this team Wells would be playing 28mpg and making a significant impact.

Snyder cant finish! He is by far our most athletic guy and we do need that. But he doesn't beat out Wells! He shouldn't get into the "rotation" but should be able to make a strong impact as a specialty player who brings energy and defense.

JVG said after the game that only one of them will be in the rotation.

He said he wants a 8 man rotation and he might go with 4 Bigs and 4Guards.

Yao, Deke, Juwan, Chuck, Tmac, Shane, Rafer, Bonzi/Luther/Kirk/Lucas

Ouch. 1 guy out of Bonzi/Kirk/Luther/Lucas willget 0 minutes, 2 guys will get some minutes (prolly Luther and Lucas)and another one will get the bulk of the minutes

i disagree... sure, post injury he has struggled finishing, but as Worell said, he was superb in the rotation in the beginning of the year.
