Why are you guys bashing Eddie Murphy? Didn't he get an academy award just recently? What movie was that for?

He was nominated and appears to be the favorite after taking home the Golden Globe.

Despite the warnings here I went to see this today. It's a decent matinee. As mentioned, several funny moments, but nothing really special. I think part of the problem is they didn't push the movie and played it safe. I'd prefer a little more raunch, but this was almost a feel good family movie.

I was REALLY pissed that I sat through the entire closing credits waiting for bloopers and outtakes only to be disappointed with NOTHING!!! WTF???

Homer Simpson is one of those people.

    Rokkit,

I hear you man. I saw "Because I Said So" this past Friday because Mrs. Manny said so, heh (it actually wasn't that BAD for a chick flick). Just wait til you get married - not only will you have to go see "chick flick" movies every so often but when you are at home, you'll have to watch movies on either Lifetime or the Lifetime Movie Channel, LOL!

lol, I know...I'm already afraid. There's some Hugh Grant/Drew Barrymore movie coming out, isn't there? She's already mentioned she wants to see it.

    *shudder*

This movie is standing at 9% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes (that's really bad).

Look at the top 4 grossing movies of the week...

    Box Office

    ROTTEN: 9% 09% Norbit
    $34.2M
    ROTTEN: 17% 17% Hannibal Rising
    $13.1M
    ROTTEN: 7% 07% Because I Said So
    $9.2M
    ROTTEN: 13% 13% The Messengers
    $7.2M

Hopefully though, 300 is going to be the best movie ever made.

    I think it will be.

    Three words: Black. Snake. Moan.

Even if it's not the best movie ever made, it has the best title of all-time.

I thought some of the previews were kinda funny. I doubt I'll watch it, though.

the trailer looked good, and I saw a 30 minute special on it on HBO. I'm tempted, but the wife doesn't like watching "ghetto" movies. I blame that on me though, she had to sit through 4 viewings of "Baby Boy" in 6 months.

How is Norbit a ghetto movie? It is nothing like the movie "Baby Boy" at all and not even in the same genre.

it's "ghetto" to her cuz she recognizes Terry Crewes from White CHicks and Friday 3, both movies which she has had to see more than once because of me.

Back to Norbit, it was cool seeing "Terry Tate" as one of the brothers. I also thought the Wayan's brother (I have no idea which one) who played the aerobic instructor was the funniest part of the movie.
