I just saw this film today and it was amazing. I normally can't tell the difference between superb acting and good acting, but Forest Whitaker as Idi Amin was outstanding. If he doesn't win the best actor this year, it would be a scandal. Any one else seen this film?
Great film, and even a better performance by Forest Whitaker; I am not exaggerating when I say that this was some of the best acting I have ever seen...it's right up there with D.Washington as Malcolm X. I agree, if Forest Whitaker doesn't win an Oscar for this, then they've lost all credibility.
They lost all credibility when Whoopi Goldberg won best supporting actress for her role in Ghost. That lame ass movie also won a best writing Oscar.
I gave that a pass . .. and figured they did it for his body of work [Remember the Titans, Glory and Malcolm X were more worthy] but Monster's Ball??? Halle Berry??? but then again . .those are not the only ones that were off It seems folx get the Oscar a year AFTER they should have Rocket River
I am very much looking foward to seeing this movie. You've all missed the greatest "What the f***?" award winner...Marisa Tomei for My Cousin Vinny.
i haven't seen the film either, but i'm always down with Forest Whittaker. dude's from, like, Nacogdoches or somethin'...
Forrest Whitaker is a hell of an actor. He kicked ass in season 5 of The Shield. Spoiler even though he was an ******* IAD agent taking down the strike team
I'm tired of the African corruption theme Hollywood's fallen in love with, but Whittaker does give a good performance. Yet...they CAN NOT give the Oscar to him. There is one scene that completely undermines the integrity of this film, and for those who've seen it, I'll just mention two things and you'll know what I'm talking about- baseball bat and a stomach ache. I didn't even think about it until now, but why the hell does he have a baseball bat by his bed to begin with? Is that the best protection a dictator can afford? Or is Uganda just crazy for the sport? I would love for them to slip that clip into Whittaker's Best Actor montage.
That has nothing to do with his acting. That has to do with a decision by the director, prop man, and possibly writer.
he is on my list of the 5 most underrate actors If he gets an oscar . . i will have to take him off the list Christopher Walker came off the list because he finally started getting his props I think Jeff Goldblum and Bill Nunn are underrate Chi McBride has improved greatly -but needs better roles Rocket River

Whoa, a tacoma park legend post!! I thought that dude had gone off to other things than posting here. Anyway, wouldn't mind seeing this but I want to know how "The King of Scotland" fits in to a movie about a dictator from Uganda??
