have you had to deal with someone very close to you being murdered? If you haven't, I really don't think it's appropriate for you to say how people should act when they have to go through it.

There is no personal responsibility anymore. We've become selfish as a society and we've been told that we are the only people who should matter.

Want a divorce? Forget the kids! Do what you want! Other people don't matter!

Want an abortion? Forget about the potential life! It's an inconvenience to you!

Want to cook the books? Forget about your employees! They aren't you!

It's all come down to the point where nobody is held responsible to others for their actions. There's always some reason that something happened that takes the responsibility away from the individual and places it on society. When you do that, people don't feel a responsibility to others because in their mind it's the fault of "the others" in the first place.

This dad probably saw the child as an inconvenience to him and thus felt no responsibility to her. I have no remorse about whatever happens to this scum.

MEOWGI, I agree with you that justice should never be placed in the hands of those that seek vengeance, no matter how henious the crime. Thus, I tend to temper my emotions when faced with stories such as these. At the same time, there's no reason to believe other people to be capable of this. Everyone is different.

As long as we live in a society that doesn't allow for people, victims or sympathizers, to act on vengeful emotions (and doesn't hand out capital punishment accordingly either), I see no reason for them not to at least express them. It's much better than for them to keep it all bottled up in side.

Some people just don't need to have kids. I am not making excuses or anything, but some people simply cannot handle a baby crying or whining for a toy or whatever. They just don't have the patience and end up going left. At that point, get some help. Take some parental classes, get counseling, put the baby up for adoption, let your parents have the baby, there are alot of options for you out there. But killing or abusing the kid is never an option.

As far as the teens cooking the dog, I see stories like that and wonder if there is any hope for those kids. If their mind is already that twisted, can they ever become a functional adult? I personally can't see it. I believe there are people who simply cannot function in society. Maybe it was a bad childhood or some event that twisted their minds, but they are only a threat to society and the only things they can add to society is crime and fatherless kids.

Ok. But it is just as sad as the original story to me.

There's just no getting around that there is a breed of people on this planet that are difficult to classify as human. It's a never-ending stream of people, too. It will never cease to amaze me what humans are capable of within the understanding of what I know I am incapable of. Sure, we may not know what we are all capable of unless specific situations arise to test us. However, a 2 year old waking up early in the morning to play while Dad is trying to sleep and then Dad doing what he did to take care of the noise factor (I guess?)...at which time he probably went back to sleep...is incomprehensible.

No, their reaction is a natural reaction and they're not telling lecturing anyone on how they should feel. You on the other hand were lecturing astrorockette. Everyone has different emotions after the initial period of anger and vengance, I'm sure you would not appreciate people telling you that you're a so and so for not getting all riled up about it, so why should you lecture anyone else for not being "prepared" and calm about it?

Very good points. A perfect example of this lack of responsibility would be the parents of the 13 year old child who got run over by a train while vandalizing the trainyard are suing the rail road for not building a higher fence to keep him out.

Any parent who can harm a defenseless child is the scum of the earth.

I will never raise my hand in anger at my children and a parent who would go as far as knocking their child unconsious deserves whatever society can inflict upon them.

Then don't lecture the killer about how he should feel either. It's the same thing.

There's a difference, he broke a law by murdering a child, neither astrorockette nor you nor anyone else on this board did that. Our conversation is strictly limited to your lecture of astrorockette.

That's more like it. He does deserve to be treated the same way.

And hopefully while he's freezing to death he can make right with God.
