You are speaking like homosexual is a species of people? Homosexual is a description for sexual activities between people of the same sex. If someone has a tendancy to be attracted to the opposite sex that doesnot mean he is of a new species. It simply has some very complex causes and should be examined more carefully than just branding him a 'homo sapian homo'
I thought your original statement was that the participants of consensual homosexual acts are homosexual. You know what, this is stupid. I don't even care about this topic. I don't even see why it has any relevance to the subject. Haggard is an adulterer, liar and drug user. I think these are much bigger issues than anything else.
I have committed adultery on my wife twice, I have committed sex outside outside of marriage many times, I have not committed a homosexual act- but I certainly could have, especially the path I was on. Just because I have never desired to have a homosexual encounter doesn't place it outside the heart and mind of man to do so. Some men actually feel a tendancy to be with other men. Just like I felt a tendancy to commit adultery. If it feels right do it- is the sure way to make wrong choices in life. Since I only have heterosexual sex wouldn't that label me heterosexual?
Ok. They are gay, not homosexual. Happy? So were you straight (or heterosexual) before you made the choice to have heterosexual sex?
homosexual, gay, sodomy, etc whatever name you give it is a behavior caused by beliefs and choices. It is by definition a sexual activity between same sex partners. These activities are choices. You cannot be a choice, you make a choice. Even very difficult and heavily influenced choices are still choices. I am not sure we are on the same page. Are you asking me if I was a man before I had heterosexual sex and was I a man after I had heterosexual sex, because I had no choice in the matter of being born a man.
I said in general - obviously there are exceptions, and plus it is arguable that prison sex is entirely voluntary.
There are two options. a) Straight or b) Gay Now, were you a) Straight or b) Gay before you made the choice to have heterosexual sex.
Please define straight and gay I am probably assuming wrongly that you suppose that people are born straight or gay. Or you suppose that you cannot help being either straight or gay. At least give me the benefit of understanding how you view this.
Because I did and you keep asking, so I am trying to understand your point. If you think this is a simple issue in our society you have not been involved much in the homosexual community.
I thought that pigeonholing people into a yes or no answer was something that liberals were dead set against.
Rhester: I think you are missing Party Pizza's point. You're arguing that everything is choice. True everything is choice to some extent. I can choose not to eat and starve to death. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to be hungry. You're reducing homosexuality down to commission of the act but it is more than that. While the act is the expression of homosexuality homosexuality means the predilection for sex with the same gender. Whether someone acts on that continuously doesn't mean that they aren't. For instance I've had sex with women. I'm not having sex with women at the moment, or a man for that matter, but that doesn't mean that I'm not heterosexual since whether I am having sex with a woman or not my preference and sexual attraction is for women. This isn't a conscious choice I've made but my decision to have sex with a woman is a conscious choice. While the act is the expression of my sexual orientation its not the sole defining factor of it. For a homosexual obviously they make a choice to commit the act but whether they do the act that doesn't necessarily change whether they are homosexual or not. If they continue to feel attracted to the same gender even if they remain celibate then would also indicate that they are homosexual just the same as if I chose to be celibate I would still remain attracted to women and by definition a heterosexual. Why all of this matters isn't a matter of calling homosexuals a separate species but to recognize that homosexuality isn't an abberant behavior but is a natural biological part of human behavior and rather than condemning homosexuals as being deviant and morally weak they are responding to their own nature. Whether you are aware of it or not your own statements show why this is important. In your examples regarding choices of behaviors you mention adultery and alcholism while also citing homosexuality and that you minister to people who you consider former homosexuals. Whether intentional or not you are equating homosexuality with self-destructive and hurtful behaviors. While homosexuals can behave in a self-destructive and hurtful manner there's nothing self-destructive or harmful about a consentual respectful sexual relationship between two adults even of the same gender. Its only a cultural view that homosexuality is deviant that equates it with things like adultery or alcholism.
It's an easy question, unless you go both ways. I was definitely straight. I always enjoyed the opposite gender even before I had sex. Very much so. Maybe he nees an Bi option?
