Hey, how does everyone feel about J.R. Rider? I personally believe that he is one of the top 2 guards in the league and would be a great fit for the Rockets if they could get him at the right price. He's going to be a free agent this off-season and a lot of teams will be turned off by his off-court problems, leaving Houston with little opposition in signing him!

I think he is a very talented player on the court. But Rudy wont get him because rudy doesnt like to deal with bad boys like him. I would love to get him but it wont happen. But a player i would like to get is Eddie Jones, I think the rockets should make a run at him. He plays great, He can score and defend.

I would also prefer to have Eddie Jones but I think there is almost no chance of him leaving Charlotte. Too bad the Rockets can't get Tim Duncan and/or Grant Hill, that would be great. What a slap in the face to the Spurs!

JR'S quit messing around. It's only been like 20 games or so, but JR hasn't missed any practices and hasn't done all the other crap that he use to do. It think he might have gotten it through his head that he cannot do those things. But then again, he IS ONE MAJOR BALL HOG. I cannot think of a bigger ball hog in this league. So, in the end, it's too big of a risk.

I don't know which J.R. Rider you've been watching, but the one I've seen is a very capable passer when necesary and has the post-up skills that would mix well with Houston's new-look offense.

J.R. RIder never passes the ball. He is one of the biggest ball hogs in the nba. Probably second to mr allen iverson. Now that is a player who doesnt know what the word pass means.

Yeah for real Francis3.

I remember quite well a certain incident when Portland lost in the playoffs last year.
Rider said that he should have been the main man on offense, and I quote"should have kept on milking me". I mean, is that the definition of ball hog or what? He went out in public and said something like that and criticized the Blazers. That's one of the reasons no one was happy last year, cause of Isiah Rider.

Plus, he was VERY unhappy when he was coming off the bench with Atlanta. Then, the Hawks put him in the starting role and gave him the ball a lot and then finally he stopped skipping practice, etc. I know Rider just doesn't shoot off the bat. He does pass the ball, but he doesn't like to pass it. He'd rather score. And I think the only reason he does pass the ball occasionally is because he is happy in Atlanta. And the only reason that he is happy is because he is the focal point of their offense. With Steve, and especially Cuttino who plays the same position as Rider, and all our other developing players like Cato, I really don't think Rider would be happy here.

I wouldn't give a damn if he got the citizenship award. We've got Francis, Mobley and Anderson. Let's look for a SF.

Alaskan, I can't believe you have finally found somebody in the NBA you don't like!

Rider is a guy who looked to have changed his tune at the end of last year. He was in a winning and succesful situation. They interviewed him after a big win against Utah. He was well focused and calm, and discussed the way others played. He carried that silly team some nights with absolutely killer possesions playing the inverted post. Rider is a talent. A troubled talent that had found a niche in Portland. Then they trade him to a losing team.

This guy will return to sanity when his next winning situation comes and when it happens everybody will want him.

Rider is a player worthy of gambling on. Many people thought Francis was a giant gamble. He is 3 times the player Anderson is and if he was offered affordably to us I would want him.

Anyone who can do between the legs dunk is special, special, special. You have to have one heck of a vertical to that. The explosiveness of Rider and Francis in one backcourt would have to be seen to be believed, and I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Yeah, we need JR and Mobley running down court holding the ball at the same time while they run out of bounds. : )..

I don't think so !

I have posted before that Rider is an awsome player. Having Rider on mixed in on the break would be an awsome addition. The Rocks need some more scoring.

------------------
We would like to get rookie Francis on the break for some easy scoops in the first quarter...

I wouldn't trade a cup of PISS for JR Rider. What an ass, and he will NEVER be a winner, only a whiner.

JR Rider...PUHLEASE..not on my Rockets.

I can't believe that so many of you are against Rider! He is an amazing basketball player. He has no problem not being the focal point of the offense, as long as the team is winning and he's on the court. Remember a few years back in Portland when Kenny Anderson was the first option on offense and Rider didn't make a big deal about that? Besides, Rider would be another player to draw double teams giving Shandon more opportunity to slash, which he does best.
