Thought this was interesting....if nothing else, just because of the timing:

Let's see how close they can come to this:

BTW, Luke Smith is part of the staff at 1UP.com in case you were wondering who he was. Although if this is BS, maybe he won't be working there for much longer...;)

Wouldn't be the first time if it was BS. Though I don't think it would be Luke's fault on this since he's basing the report on a source.

BTW, I think you'll understand if I'm a little skeptical when it comes to anything Killzone related. There's no such thing as a Halo killer anyway. People are gonna buy Halo 3 no matter what, it's stupid to even release a game with the infmaous history of Killzone 2 around same time Halo 3 beta because it just invites comparisons, especially when you market yourself as a "Halo killer."

I suppose if they got KZ PS3 to look anything close to that video, or at least (significantly) better-looking than Halo 3, Sony/Guerilla might want those comparisons. Not that I'd expect Guerilla to offer gameplay on par with Halo.

The whole "___ killer" is pretty stupid in general. I agree with you there.

Killzone wasn't a very good game.

I still don't understand why people get so worked up about a sequel. God Of War, Resistance, hell even a new Ratchet and Clanke - yes. But Killzone? Ugh.

kill zone, like resistance is another mediocre title. I'm wondering why they didn't put God of War 2 on the ps3?

He's talking about the mediocirty of Killzone, and is wondering why they would choose to do a PS3 sequel instead of one for GOW.

This thread lacks common sense. God of War 2 is released next month. How long do you think it took them to develop the game? Did you want them to throw everything away or reuse those resources for the PS3? You'll have ps2 graphics on a ps3 and have everyone screaming for Jaffes head. Not only that, the xbot fans will come in full force and claim 360 graphic superiority and go on about how great the 360 is.

Instead of, "I wish gow2 was on ps3", why not think along the lines of, "I can't wait to see what they'll do with gow3 on the ps3?" Sure it won't come out until another year or two, maybe even three, but it'll be worth it. Look at how long people are waiting for Halo 3, or even a better example Zelda: TP which was just released.

    xbots? lol

anyway, considering that GOW is an in house franchise, Sony shoulda had Jaffe going at it full throttle for GOW2 the minute they were able to make dev kits. had they been able to launch with GOW2, the sting from their messups would have been significant;y less.

    And I care because?

They should have put it on the ps3. Why are you bringing the 360 into this?

wait what i really meant is they should stop the game from going gold and delay it 3 yrs and release it on the ps3. make sense?

Because you hurt his sony feelings, the only thing to do was attack the 360.

There was no way they could get GOW2 ready for the PS3 in that time (assuming they kept their standards just as high). Probably would have been late 2007 at the earliest, but then the significance of the title wouldn't really have mattered (plenty of PS3 games of near equal/equal/greater quality coming out at that time, if not sooner). They could have pulled a Zelda:TP, but that's about it.

Jaffe probably wouldn't have had time to work on the game anyway since he was pursuing other interests during that time (PSP game, being a "creative director" or something at SCEA, working on his PSN game, etc.). Not that he would really be the one needed to be there once PS3 devkits were available (he's barely needed for GOW2 as it is); he's the creative genius for GOW, but it would be someone like Tim Moss (lead programmer for GOW). Just a guess here, but I'm sure Moss (and others at SCEA Santa Monica) have had some time working with PS3 devkits. FWIW, Jaffe did say he had started creating ideas for GOW3 a couple of months ago, although the game had yet to be green-lit by Sony.

Unless it was a joke (I hope it was), I don't really understand the reasoning for delaying GOW2 and releasing it for the PS3 in 2-3 years. Considering how some 360/PS3 games look, GOW2 could practically be considered a PS3 game anyway. ;)

Regarding Sony pushing a Killzone sequel instead of something else (GOW or whatever), I can definitely understand the complaints. When they bought Guerilla, I didn't really understand why, unless they just really wanted to get a quality FPS franchise on the PS brand (which they could, and eventually did, get from Insomniac anyway). Guerilla did do much better with their PSP game (6.9 to 8.3 at Gamespot), so perhaps they could make similar improvements for the PS3 version of Killzone. Or just make another pretty game that sucks when it comes to gameplay; that was enough to net a few million in sales for the original, so maybe they don't really care that much as long as the $$$ comes in.

CVG seems to reporting something similar, although they could be getting the info from the same source(s):
