Im going to wait and see if Iran is actually saying this. I remember every news agency saying Iran was going to force jews in iran to wear a star of david but it turned out that it wasnt true.

That's a good point. It occurred to me when I saw it that a possibility was that western sources were misquoting Iranian officials. And, I had forgotten about the whole Star of David fiasco.

Off-topic, but today's anti-HIV drugs are pretty remarkably close to a cure. It's pretty amazing really about how, back in the 80's, HIV usually meant a short term AIDS death sentence, now people are something like 15-20 years into treatment with no sign of re-infection and HIV at undetectable levels like Magic Johnson.

Wasn't there anew string of HIV that had developed immunity to the drugs? I think it was last year or the year before that a New York man got this vicious new strain. I don't remember the follow up to it though.

PLEASE PLEASE (oh, PLEASE) stop saying "HIV Virus". The "V stands for Virus." Saying "HIV Virus" would be like saying "PIN number" or "PC computer."

KingCheetah... c'mon, man. We're waiting for your insightful post. Don't make us wait, freaker.

They may just be proposing the wide scale irradiation of those infected by way of nuclear ordinance. Something not unmentioned by whackos in the US in the 80's... and the Iranian President could be labeled a "whacko" very easily.

The article said "IMOD" - Intercontinental Missle Of Doom.

Or it could be a misinterpretation and the dude "got a hold of some bad herbs, and listened to his ipod."

Another reason is that Africa has been hit with a deadlier strain of HIV. The drugs aren't as potent in fighting it, but something is better than nothing.

Yup and we do have a drug that lowers the amount of virus replication. Before we use to have 20 to 30 pills to control but now we have it in a single drug.

I think thats is what Iran probably has. Something that lowers the replication of the virus but not completely stop from replicating. It mutates very rapidly so its very hard to give out antibodies.
