Saw this blurb in the LA Times. Now that sanity is prevailing, maybe the Bulls can make a deal. Deng plus a 1st rounder in 2009 may do the trick. Like I said before, Pau (with his contract) isn't worth Ben Gordon straight up.

He's got a ticket to ride

Insiders say Memphis keeps dropping its asking price for Pau Gasol, suggesting owner Michael Heisley has told Jerry West to forget fair value and slash the payroll.

The Grizzlies reportedly asked Chicago for Ben Gordon, Luol Deng and the Knicks' No. 1 pick, which the Bulls own. Now Memphis is down to Deng or Gordon plus another young player such as Thabo Sefolosha, P.J. Brown's expiring contract and a 2009 first-rounder.

Insiders say a few losses may bring the Bulls around. They just eked out a win in Seattle to go 1-1 on this seven-game West Coast trip, so stay tuned.

I keep hoping that Kevin Garnett will demand a trade and the Bulls land him. Chicago has a really deep and talented team, but they just don't have any real star. I don't see how they'd be much better than any of the Memphis teams of the last few years just by added Pau to the mix. Garnett, however, would just about guarantee that the Bulls not only make it to the Finals, but are a serious threat to any team they meet there.

If Pau can be traded for Ben Gordon, Luol Deng and a No. 1 pick, imagine what Yao could get for us. Even if we just add Gordon and Deng to our lineup, the team will become incredibly good right away.

    Gordon
    Tmac
    Deng
    Battier
    Mutombo

And we will also have two no.1 picks in the next draft to strengthen the bench.

it's incredible how far his stock has fallen for anyone to say something like that. The guy is a top 5 true post player in my book. If I can get him for a one dimensional player like Gordon, I do it in a heartbeat.

I'm not a real Pau fan so maybe I'm a bit biased. But I just don't see how this trade would be fair to the Bulls. Deng, Gordon, and a #1??? Even the Deng or Gordon plus Thabo and a #1 is way steep a price to pick up Pau. I think he is a bit overated anyway. Chicago would be well served to keep the incredible young talent they have, hell they are in the East which is much more wide open and could easily be won by a team hovering around the .500 mark.

I would not accept anything less than Deng, Gordon, Ben Wallace, and the no.1 pick, we would also seriously have to move Deng or Battier even

    Deng
    Gordon
    Hinrich
    Wallace

    Yao
    Battier

Bulls don't do it simply cause they get rid of their whole team, but I'd dig this lineup

    Hinrich
    McGrady/Gordon
    Deng
    Juwan
    Wallace

Bah. The Bulls would do that deal every day and twice on Sunday. We'd be the team getting screwed. Four solid players do not equal one superstar who happens to be the most marketable player in the most populated country in the world. Besides, Ben Wallace is an albatross contract at his age.

Gordon is a glorified Cuttino Mobley. Better in the clutch, but really only effective when he dominates the ball. Deng is a player but neither is either worth nor fits better than Yao.

uh no. Go back to basketball 101 and come back when you pass the class. You win championships with dominant big men. Not only is yao dominant, he was playing at MVP level before he got hurt.

I wouldn't trade yao for anyone in the league, honestly, because he is that much of a mismatch/that good.

I thought this was a thread about that Spanish goofus being traded, eventually, to someone, and his asking price dropping. What does Yao have to do with anything?

    Nothing.

What good does it do to have 10 wing players?

Like the other dude said, you need to go take some basketball lessons. Having a center that dominates the weakest position in the league and creates mismatches every night and is a superstar is much better than a sem-star that dominates the ball, and a couple good players that are very streaky. If that was the case, then we should have trade Yao for T-Mac and keep Stevie Franchise and Cat.

Literally the only way I'd trade Yao Ming at this point is if we got a package with Lebron + the #1 pick in the 2007 draft OR Dwight Howard. Yes, that's completely impossible - but it's the only way I'd trade Yao. Yao Ming is the best center in the NBA and yeah, he was playing on an MVP level before his injury. I can't believe this guy thinks I'm joking that I wouldn't trade Yao for Deng, Gordon, Wallace and whoever else they said.

How would Dwight Howard help us in our "win now" mode?? He's at least more years to be polished enough offensely and defensively for us to win a championship. His rebounding is great, but I'd rather take KG than DH at this point.

Just the thought of trading Yao Ming is one of the most blasphemous, moronic notions possible. There a very few untradeable players; he is one. You cannot consider yourself a Rockets fan if you have any desire at all to trade Yao. Like jmwilliamson said, the only way I'd ever entertain the notion is if it was for LeBron and a top 5 pick. They're both untradeable franchise players, so there's no chance.

Chicago will do this in a heart beat. They will probably throw in the #1 draft pick just to be sure. If this go down, I will nominate this deal as the deal of the century!

Battier made Pau what he was. Pau should go nowhere unless there's a good defender sharing the front court with him to cover up his weakness.
