Without thinking... I'm going to do whatever I can to get out to one of the Horn's last 5 games to catch one last glimpse of greatness.
I had courtside seats when Durant came to Lubbock. The kids is the most talented collge basketball player I have ever seen.............I still take Oden number 1
Rick Barnes CHOKED this game......they had NO INSIDE game whatsoever, and he kept in a packed in zone all day...while they bombed away...... Unbelievable. I still don't know why they took away Abrams 2 point layup as he was fouled...that cost the horns one point...in a one point game.... DD
Geez... I've never heard that one before. Yall excited about seeing Durant shoot under 35% from the field and getting beaten back to reality on Monday?
I guess the 'no inside game' and zone couldn't possibly have anything to do with one another ... That team hasn't been a good 3-pt shooting team this year. But it looks like they will be in the tournament; pretty good for the Big 12 all around. They're not a bad team, and I'm sure Texas was looking ahead to ATM, no matter what Barnes was telling them.
DD, It was because Pittman, following the play, touched the rim while the ball was still in the cylinder. Offensive goaltending, so no bucket
UT really isn't a good man to man defensive team. That's why they play so much zone. Odds that K-State going on that 3-point rampage were slim to none as they are the worst 3-point shooting team in the Big 12. They really need Pittman to step up and be able to play bigger minutes so they have someone that can bang inside. Otherwise, games like this will kill them. That said, they win this game if AJ Abrams isn't 2-16 from the field.
As an Aggie fan I'm definitely concerned about Durant in this game. He can win this game on his own, but the only way he is going to do that is to take it from us on the offensive glass. We really struggled getting rebounds against KU and near the end of the game Kansas was up 17-0 before we finally got an O-Reb put back. If we can keep his offensive rebounding in Check, Ags win by 10. If Durant goes Durant and dominates the glass, I can definitely see Texas pulling this one out tonight.
The Sixers DEFINITELY take Durant if they have the #1 pick. He seems to have more superstar potential than Oden, and they need somebody to sell tickets now that Iverson is gone. Oden is only taking 9 shots per game, but he's so efficient (1.71 pps), that he's still averaging 15 points. I think he could be a 20/10 guy, but Durant could be a game breaker. Both are number 1 pick worthy, IMO.
You think Oden will be a 20 and 10 guy? Of course he will! He is only a freshman, post play in college is hindered by spacing due to zones and a close 3pt line, and historically skilled big men increase their statistical production drastically when they come to the NBA. The biggest test of the regular season for Oden was the game against Noah. Foul trouble kind of left it a mystery. Durant's test comes tonight. He is a freshman playing on the road against the best defense in college basketball. If he rises to the occasion tonight it might be the difference between 1 and 2 in the lotto. But ya. Ill be there watching him shoot 32% from the field and fouling out with 8 minutes to go while AC takes the lead for Big 12 POY.
yeah, right. You very well might win, but Kevin Durant will get his without shooting 30% and will not be fouling out tonight. And Acie Law is a distant 2nd in the big 12 POY race, and it will stay that way this season. Durant if he stays healthy is the POY in the conference and probably NPOY as well. The matchup that worries me as a Texas fan is jones, anyway. But while I think the ags will win, it would not shock me to see my Horns pull this out because we are young and don't know better, plus we have enough talent to win against anyone on any given night.
yeah durant has some ground to cover if he gets POY, but i think he has big12 POY pretty much wrapped up.
The Florida game was no mystery to me. Horford was the problem, not Noah. He pushed Oden around like a rag doll. Oden needs to add some strength.
John Hollinger says the Durant/Oden debate COULD be a Jordan/Olajuwon-type debate. to paraphrase (Hollinger's words, not mine): Where if you get the big man and he wins 1 or 2 championships, you don't necessarily regret it, but you look back and say "man, we could've had 5 or 6". Yeah, he implied that we wish on some level that we had picked Jordan instead. in his podcast or whatever with Chad Ford...it's pretty long: http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/podcast/player?id=2763035
