I dont oppose sending him to the NBDL, but considering the fact that he was brought here and "promised big minutes", I dnot see him going to the NBDL. I think he'd rather go back to Greece where he is regarded as a hero (well deserved nontheless) than to go to the D-League... and hopefully we will see him in the next world championship whipping the "dream team's" butt..

Ok, just admit it...you're dating Vassillis Spanoulis.

Where did you hear that VSpan just had his best practice? I hope he is using all the ridicule he gets as motivation and working hard in practice. BTW, I don't think VSpan plays much against Rafer and JL3 in practice much. It's been said over and over again that JVG wants VSpan to play at the shooting guard, not the PG. So he's probably playing against TMac and Bonzi in practice.

If JVG really feels that way about the NBDL then there must be a terrible disconnect between the NBA team and the NBDL team. I would think that the coaching staffs would get together and try to work what's best for the parent clubs, possibly have the coaching staff of the NBDL team have a representative of each NBA team down there.

There is absolutely no question that you can only learn so much by looking at film and watching games. A player if they are really going to train their mind and body to respond right, has to be put into game situations and allow his mind to move his muscle groups properly to be in the right positions until it becomes automatic free flow and he doesn't have to think about every move first. That split second delay is what costs the player the play. He's late to the double, he's late for the charge, he's late with the pass, he's late with the shot, he's late on everything until he has done it enough times that it is second nature.

And I'm sorry, but all this garbage about learning in practice during an NBA season, when you are working with the bench unit against the first unit, and the first unit is going half-speed, doesn't get it done. You can learn the plays, the terminology, etc. etc. etc. but you won't get it done until you transfer that head stuff to your body. Anybody that has played basketball knows that. Proper execution comes with being in position to execute not from being in position to practice. And if our NBDL club is that bad that we don't trust them to help train players to help us on the NBA level, then why be associated with them? It seems like a terrible waste of time, energy, and money right there. If JVG really feels that way, he should sit down with CD and the rest of the organization and work out a plan that makes sense.

The reason players learn so much and mature so much during the summer is because they can PRACTICE and PLAY against live competition. It takes both skill repetitive practice and playing the game. A player may be able to increase their skill level, say shooting for instance, by practicing a skill repititously with a high number of reps on a routine daily basis during the summer, but it's still not game speed. They can learn how to shoot better, how to dribble better, they can lift weights and get stronger, etc. etc. etc., but at some point they have to get on the court and figure out how to get to the proper position on the court with 9 other moving pieces around them so that they can get off that improved shot, so they can use that crossover dribble at the right point, so they can get that extra 20 pounds of muscle in the right position to grab the board. And that only happens against live competition.

What a waste to have the NBDL opportunity and it not be beneficial to use it.

Last year I had 6 season tickets to the Toros hoping to do some reports about some of the young players. 2 of the tickets were courtside next to the Toros bench.

But the Rockets did not utilize the connection and I asked Dennis Johnson about it, since I sat right behind him.....and he said that JVG did not believe in the minor league system but they were hoping to change his mind.

    I don't think they did.

This year, I did not renew my tickets because no Rockets were going to play there...

    :(

I still have front row Round Rock Express tickets to watch the future Astros though.

    WOOT !

nobody wants spanoulis to play in the nba. jvg obviously doesn't and spanoulis doesn't want it either for sure. and even if jvg wanted it, i don't think spanoulis would go. he would either directly ask for a trade or a buyout to go back to europe (where he is mcgrady btw ;)).

I would send him to the NDBL if it would stop the threads about him, but the realist in me knows it would just lead to daily updates of his box scores.

VSpan should stay where he is. That way he will get his championship ring along with the rest of the team. ;)
