Buy Lonely Planet Germany and pick up basic German phrases.

cool! i am definately a history buff and am hoping to go there for my next european trip, maybe in may or june.

i went to europe for the first time last december, but just went to amsterdam, berlin and cologne. i had planned on going to munich, but i liked berlin so much that i stayed there for about 6 days.

i would imagine that a city like munich suffered less bomb damage than berlin or cologne, leaving more of the cool historical stuff intact. berlin was pretty much obliterated, but there was still alot of interesting things there - it was pretty trippy walking down unter-den-linden seeing the thousands of bullet scars in all the buildings from when the soviets invaded.

how are the museums there? i thought amsterdam and berlin were both top-notch.
