I coached T-ball one year. One technique we used was to use baloons which are lightly-inflated. You can adjust the baloon for the kid-- however much float you want! It gets them used to moving their hands to meet the ball. Hand strength is an issue which can only be solved over time.
Stand about 5 feet away and throw a soft baseball or tennis ball into directlytheir glove (dont mnake them have to move the glove) over and over until they get used to closing their glove when the ball hits it....once they get used to it, move back a couple steps and keep doing it....make sure u are using a soft baseball (like the kind they use for t ball) because if it bounces off the glove and hits their face, its a long road back
