So many good ones, I don't know. When I was very little, my French aunts and uncles called me "Titi" after Tweety. But, I don't especially care for him.

Bugs Bunny. He's the best. The earlier bunnies weren't really Bugs. They were are a character called Happy Rabbit. That guy was a dick. Bugs is the best and rarely was the instigator. He was just the guy would whoop ass when someone started with him. Except those instances where he was the bully (versus the tortoise) and then of course he got his just desserts.

I personally think the earlier ones were more amusing. Later Bugs was much more in control of himself and was too calm. Early Bugs always seemed like he was going to end up in a mental ward. After about the early 1950's he was too cynical, and he always seemed to be almost uninterested. The following is one of the better mid-way Bugs Bunny cartoons. I klike the fact that he doesn't have all the answers.

The only thing wrong with this cartoon is there is an very similar version with Adolph Hitler instead of Bugs which is actually better.

I really, really like the earliest Daffy Duck. He was like a drunken schitzophrenic on cocaine. He couldn't keep his eyes ucrossed or his mouth closed. He would pass a threshold of excitement and literally bounce off the walls for two or three minutes. Lots of silly physical comedy.

If you want to see what I'm talking about Click on the following link for Daffy Duck videos at AOL. then go down to 'The Daffy Doc', which should be the second from the bottom. The video is free and it is a Daffy Duck that most people aren't familiar with.

The later Daffy Duck is not a character in his own right, but only the greedy, petty stupid fool who exists only make Bugs look good.

Here is one of the Ant and the Aardvark. Since I only could see the german spoken version as a kid, it was even funnier since the Aardvark had a female voice. The same voice as Miss Piggy had in german from the muppets show. A really rough and funny voice. First one is in english, the second one in german. Good times :D

I must admit the german version is funnier! And she is called "Die blaue Elise" = The blue Elise, yeah........

I was a kid the first time I went to France. It was at that time when I realized the Pepe le Pew connection:

Pepe the skunk was a stinky, lecherous Frenchman who would stop at nothing to get laid.

    Stereotypes, anyone?

Someone (Ted Turner, maybe?) refused to play Speedy Gonzalez cartoons due to the "negative" stereotype of Mexicans he portrayed (I never saw Speedy as a negative character). This specifically could be an urban myth (I'm too lazy to look it up), but I distinctly remember a controversy about Speedy re: Mexicans, much in the same light as the mascots for the Indians, Braves, and Redskins re: Native Americans.

I always found it interesting that the same did not apply to Pepe re: the French.

Besides, I always liked Speedy better.

    Foghorn Leghorn :)

"I say, I say, I say... There's gotta be something yiiiieeeeeeeeeewwwww... about a kid who's NEVER played baseball before."

Then that little chick did some Calculus and sank his battlehsip. :D

Lynus302, I remember that. I also remember that in the late 1990's, some dumbasses in California sent a complaing to Warner Brothers about Speedy... don't know why...

exactly, that's what made him great. he would just **** with guys for no reason and drive guys like elmer fudd crazy. he was like an even meaner daffy duck who won more often (well, really, he won all the time, nobody could beat bugs except that damn tortoise). there's nothing better than watching bugs in action.

that sounds like something they would do on robot chicken. they need to make that happen.

we must've had that cartoon on a tape because i remember watching it a lot as a kid. the image of bugs bending the plane's frame as he gears up to run real fast has always stuck with me for some reason. and seeing a word with ass in it (jack-ass) as a kid was always funny.

my mom still always says that "you must meet the most interesting monsters" line bugs says while giving the monster a manicure.

the other thing that's crazy about all these characters is that mel blanc basically did the voices for all of them. i mean even if you're good at voices, it seems crazy to think you'd basically do all of the most classic cartoon characters ever. amazing talent.
