I personally think that's a good idea. We should also make all African-Americans carry cards cause they could be in a gang. We probably should make sure that all Irish-Americans have cards as well because they're all probably drunk drivers.
Sad isn't quite the word that first comes to mind. Terrifying, shocking, and pathetic would be closer, in my mind. America's great! Our ideals make us great! What? This terrorist was an Arab? So much for ideals! Brand the Arabs! Makes me sick. I'm Italian. Should I have my little possible-mafia-member card?
Why do you guys continue to over-estimate the intelligence of the American public? You're doing exactly that if this shocks you.
Hmmm, maybe some Democrats and Liberals might want to rethink this whole true Democracy argument I have heard so much about in the last 5 years. Perhaps you don't want these wackos to be able to vote by turning on the internet?? When we see polls like this, it makes me so proud to live in a country that understands the real value of Republicanism, and makes my even more unhappy with spineless politicians who use polls to determine how they will vote. The general public is just too busy working long hours and raising kids to understand the complex issues of today.

Yeah, it was that part of the article that said that Democrats were the one involved in spearheading this, as opposed to the party that has the racist Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms as its members, pissed me off too. I'm not trying to start a debate, I'm just pointing out how idiotic it is to blame this on Democrats or Republicans.
Okay, I'm confused. Are you actually saying that you think Democrats are called that because they prefer a straight democracy? And that Republicans favor a republic? Rocketman95, the move to push our country toward a true Democracy definitely comes from Democrats and Liberals. I have heard several nationally prominent Liberals say we should register citizens to vote automatically and people should vote over the internet. I have even heard some propose that we should use the internet to vote directly on some issues. Conservatives have fought against this idea because it is not in our best interest to let everybody participate in the electoral process. This sounds terrible I know, but ignorant, apathetic, and stupid people don't cast informed votes. Right wing racists fall into this group. Fighting to pass <i>any measure</i> to increase the voter pool may help the Democrats, but an overused cliche comes to the forefront in this instance- <b><i>BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!</i></b>
But the idea of everyone voting is nothing new! It's just that everybody will be voting on a representative! Just like now! I have not heard anyone, I repeat ANYONE, liberal or conservative say we should do away with the House of Reps. And this year some liberals were crying foul about the electoral college. In previous years conservatives have cried foul. It's nothing new. I'm still confused how internet voting makes us more of a democracy. All it changes is how we vote, not who can vote or what they vote on. Can you explain this?

That has nothing to do with a Democracy vs. Republic -- it simply has to do with giving people easier access to vote on their politicians. Do you actually think that only certain Americans should have the right to be represented? Giving everyone the right to vote is generally considered a GOOD thing. <B>I have even heard some propose that we should use the internet to vote directly on some issues. </B> I dare you to find a single prominant politician refer to the idea of actually moving to a direct-vote Democracy.

You guys want media manipulation there it is right there. If you find the right segment of people you can get that kind of thinking guaranteed. Oh goody, more the "Honorable Republicans against the nasty Democrats" and I can't believe that there are people that agree with the guy! The biggest irony of all is while you're blaming this on Democrats and talking about how great the Republicans are and how they are fighting for "truth and justice and the American way", the true leaders of the Republican Party and Democratic Party are WORKING TOGETHER and are not taking petty potshots at each other.
