Rage Against the Machine reuniting for Coachella festival

    Associated Press

LOS ANGELES — Rage Against the Machine, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bjork are among the artists set to perform at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

The two alternative rock bands and the quirky singer-songwriter — all previous Coachella performers — will headline the April 27-29 camping and music festival at the Empire Polo Field in Indio.

Rage Against the Machine is reuniting for the festival, seven years after band members Zack de la Rocha, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk split amid chatter of internal conflict.

"For the first time in its eighth outing, Coachella expands to three days, giving concertgoers an additional day of music to experience the eclectic mix of acts for which the festival has become known," organizers said in a statement.

Bjork will perform on Friday, the Red Hot Chili Peppers on Saturday and Rage Against the Machine on Sunday.

Other artists include Arctic Monkeys, the Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, the Decemberists, the Roots, the Kings of Leon, Damien Rice, Rufus Wainwright, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah, Fountains of Wayne and Regina Spektor.

Tickets go on sale Saturday. They are priced at $85 for one day and $249 for a three-day pass.

I am planning on going. I live in Cali. Looking forward to some of the non-headliners. The Roots, Tiesto, Silversun Pickups, Kings on Leon, Kaiser Cheifs ect.... This is one hell of a lineup. Three days of outstanding music!!!!

Coachella has a great lineup this year. My favorites thus far: Interpol, Arctic Monkeys, The Decemberists, The Good The Bad The Queen, Fields, Arcade Fire, Air, Placebo, Grizzly Bear, The Kooks, Tapes n Tapes, Rodriego and Gabriela, Hot Chip and Jr. Gong Marley.

May make a side trip to Cali for this.

Giving the cliched line, figured it had to happen at some point. Demand's been always overwhelming for them to reunite. The Audioslave thing was, eeeh...serviceable. Already been breakup rumors for Audioslave, this can't help.

I had mild interest weeks before the show last year to see Daft Punk. Reviews that followed said they were THE BEST performers of the show, some going as far to say it was the best non-rock act they've seen EVER. So I'm kinda kicking myself for that one after also finding out they very rarely perform in the US...

But that was last year. This year Willie Nelson & Crowded House! Sonic Youth, The Roots, Air, Ghostface Killah, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk...Maybe Interpol. After that can take em or leave em but wow 3 days now!

God I hope they make a trip out here to Texas. Anywhere in this state, and I'm there...

Yeah I am planning on going, tickets go on sale to the public tomorrow. The only thing I'm not sure about is where I'm going to stay. Hotels are ridiculously expensive. Camping could be fun, but that also might get old after a day.

Coachella is a festival in California...don't think it's a tour...

Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros, Daft Punk, Ladytron, Animal Collective, Devendra Banhart, Deerhoof, Editors, Wolfmother, Tool, Bloc Party, Scissor Sisters, Matisyahu, Mogwai, TV On The Radio, Gnarls Barkley, Wolf Parade, The Go! Team, Imogen Heap, Mates Of State, Minus The Bear, Be Your Own Pet.

I just don't think 2007 could top the 2006 ^ lineup. I almost **** when I saw that last year.

what I heard was that the guys in Audioslave are kinda ticked at Chris Cornell for putting in too much time into his solo project and really want to jam, so they got back with Zach for this show, where it goes from here, I have no idea.

Damn, every year I see the lineup for Coachella I'm jealous I don't live close enough to go.

I guess the Winter Music Conference in South Beach (every big dj/producer/label in every genre of dance music, basically the entire industry) is only a short drive away from me and if I had to pick I'd take this anyways. But I've got to go to Coachella once in my life...

camping is rough - i did it in 04.

we had even booked a hotel w/ a beautiful hilltop pool w/ great view for like $100 a night, but my buddy was being cheap and wanted to camp in order to save money - the camping they have is in a big park by a dirty lake - its very dusty and there are little thorns all over the place. you are camping with thousands and its very noisy all night. after spending 12 hours in 115 degree heat and being very dirty and smelly thats the last thing i wanted. i would recommend getting a hotel - think how nice it would be to take a shower when you got back and be able to sleep in a bed in peace!

we turned the trip into a week long camping trip - camped in southern new mexico and southern arizona on the way out and hit the grand canyon on the way back.

i am thinking about going, but i only get so much vacation time a year and ive got other places i want to go to.

aside from rage getting back together, the jesus and mary chain, happy mondays and crowded house are also reuniting.

you can buy single day or 3 day. the prices are on their website - i think its $85/$250. this is actually the first year that its 3 days - the lineup is pretty solid so its not like its too watered down (unlike acl, for which 3 days is 1 too many), but 3 days out there is going to be tough - i was wiped out after two days - that desert heat is just brutal.

if rage is getting back together i hope soundgarden does too - those guys kicked ass! great musicians - one of those bands where if even one member was replaced it wouldnt sound the same.

yes, but a little birdie told me that rage will be playing - not sure if it will be during morello's "set" or some other suprise/secret gig, but if all goes according to plan its going to happen.
