OK, my girlfriend got hit by the flu bug and I have been taking care of her unfortunately all day today so I will probably end up getting this too. Anyway, she was nauseated and vomiting most of the day today and I told her we needed to go to the doctor so she could either get a shot or suppository form of promethazine (Phenergan). She was very stubborn and did not go so I called up her mom and my mom and asked them what to do. Both of them told me that there was a pharmacy in town that sold it as a cream that you rub in your wrists. I had never heard of such before and they said it was the only place in town to get it in this form. So my questions are, how does this form actually work and why can't/don't Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Super D, or any other pharmacy sell this stuff?
I've never heard of giving Phenergan in a cream form. I would never prescribe that either. Oral, rectal or IM is what is usually prescribed.
I've heard of it, but I think it's only sold overseas... so your local store may have gotten it from Canada? Why it's not sold here, I'm not sure.. could be a red-tape kinda deal or maybe they've deemed it unsafe.. who knows
