This probably will be a very good deal for both teams. Jennings is a horse and I'd be willing to wager his ERA will be below 3.40 and that we'll get 220 + innings a year from him.I mean the guy averaged 6 2/3 innings an outing last year..Coming down out of Coors is going to help him much more than many might think.Jennings will be nails at home and has #1 upside.(I'm not that saying that he will be better than Roy,but Jason could be the equivalent of a 1 nevertheless)

tipjar wager? sub 3.40 ERA 220 innings and minimum 15 victories....barring major injury.

    $50?anybody?

You are on. No way his ERA is that low, but I hope you are right. If it is, Jennings may sign for mega bucks next season elsewhere.

My guess is that his ERA is right at 4.

    It's a bet.

I'm hoping we lock him up longterm soon.Who knows?Perhaps it was understood when the deal went down. We'll know soon enough.
Dallas,Baylor, home close by in Texas, and going to a winner..plenty of incentive.

It's a big risk. We gave up a lot for a one year rental, and if he has an outstanding year, it'll cost a ton to sign him and we'll have the "rich" teams competing for him. If the Astros are really high on the guy, you have to lock him up by the beginning of the season, in my opinion.

If he pitches close to that, and assuming Roger's going to saunter in eventually, that gives us a NASTY BIG 3 for the postseason.

Willy T and Hirsch keep getting discussed. Watch it be Buckholz that goes out pitching light-out and puts together a solid season as a number 3 starter or something. Sure hope thats not the case to make the trade look good but its not like he didnt have any tools to potentially contribute on the major league level.

Yes, Astros HAVE to sign Jennings past this coming year. Or it could be like a whole season Randy Johnson type deal.

So then basically he figures to give what Pettitte might have given. Except they give up prospects to get Pettitte replacement numbers instead of just resigning Pettitte...who also would help keep Clemens around...

Again PLEASE resign the guy past this coming year.

Well above everything I hope the Astros win but I do want all three of these guys to bring it to prove that idiot Purpura should not be a GM.

Wow, someone is really chugging the Astros koolaid there. Slow down, a "sub 3.40 era" for a guy who is near a career era of 5 is quite a dramatic step. He's not throwing water-logged baseballs anymore.

I don't get it..people spend all offseason complaining that pupura doesn't make any moves. When he does make a move people bash him. We needed another pitcher and we traded positions that we could spare. Willy just wasn't the lead off man we needed his on base percentage was awful and Hirsh and bucholtz well time will tell for them. However, we got the pitcher we needed so now our 1-2-3 doesn't look half bad..with Roy, Jennings, and Woody. Now the Burke fans that spent all of last year complaining abouth im not playing get their wish. My personally I would like to see the lineup something like 1. Biggio 2. Burke 3. Berkman 4. Lee 5. Scott 6. Ensberg 7. Ausmus 8. Everett 9. Pitcher spot
I hope Lorretta get's some playing time during the season same goes for Lamb, we'll have to wait and see how Ensberg makes his comeback, but please people, let's go maybe just a day without complaining..
