Hell yea! The cougar was the pinnacle point of the show. Since then it has been all downhill. I was amused when Keifer Sutherland mentioned the cougar recently during his interview on Larry King Live.
Since you're watching it on DVD or Tivo, fast forward the family parts until around the 14th episode. 24 works in halves, so you aren't missing much and the recaps do their job.
That's what the terrorists said. And then Jack Bauer killed them. Whether you should keep watching or not is obvious.
the show takes advantage of our good will, though, imo. dumb is one thing; mentally r****ded quite another. honestly, there are crack babies with more common sense that 3/4 of the show's charcaters.
24 has gone downhill quite a bit. Season 6 is pretty bad. They should have stopped with season 4. It had the perfect ending point. The inconsistincies and ignorant decisions is what makes this show horrible, not that its reliable. Jack Bauer kicking ass is what makes the show entertaining. "don't bother, i've ran the files through the shredder program" ... There are some dumb quotes!!
Why is that dumb? How do you know that organization doesn't have a sophisticated program that makes data completely untraceable--something none of us know about--known within their walls simply as "the shredder program" ? Just because you haven't heard of something doesn't make it dumb.. TV shows aren't based only on your reality.
1) it wouldn't be called a "shredder program" 2) a bunch of lowly FBI agents wouldn't know what it was 3) you couldn't simply delete every pertinent file in 2 minutes into a "shredder program" 4) to completely remove data off a hard disk where its untraceable would take some time. "Deltree *.*" just doesn't work. 5) A organization (whatever it was about) would have backups, and to think they could all be destroyed with a few keystoke is completely stupid. those are just a few flaws in that brief scene. I know its 24, but they could have come up with something better than that.
Yeah, they have to work within the format. Otherwise, Jack never goes to the restroom or eats. In 24, the minor characters and Kim always do the stupidest things. I figure they're probably gonna die anyways....
I was wondering what the poster was talking about (I didn't get to watch this week's episode until last night). Yeah, you really should keep watching. Talk about a family man.
The idea that there are no paper records of payroll alone was fairly ridiculous. The show has become openly laughable in the past two seasons, but it's no different than your standard summer movie blockbuster. It's not that the show is unwatchable, or even close, it's upsetting that it's going down the hill. It can't live up to itself anymore. Evan
There's been ridiculousness every single day. Day 3, the first eight hours were absolutely meaningless.
First, I disagree w/ the first 3 points. In 24 world why isn't this possible? If you want to nitpick every minute technical detail, you must find the show fit for 5 yr olds. At this rate all the high level plot points aren't even conceivable. It's improbable Jack Bauer would be alive for a 6th season. CTU looks way too nice and stylish for a government office. Everyone would probably be a lot less attractive. Why DON'T we see Jack say, "I'll be back in a second, I've got to use the bathroom" (and actually use it, not as a ploy to sneak off). I know time is tight, but doesn't someone at least make a fast food run for the office? Maybe you guys would be better off watching documentaries. I've been reading Company - A Novel of the CIA. It's fiction, but it's strongly based on actual events and people. Might be more your speed.
I had time this weekend and finished watching Day 1. Overall, the series is still up in the air for me. The last episode was really it's saving grace. That and the positive comments in this thread about the upcoming seasons have me willing to at least watch Day 2. Man were the episodes repetitive. You could pretty much count on this: Jack getting in trouble with a superior, but somehow talking his way out of whatever it is he did and then getting said superior to send a "team" of faceless agents to get slaughtered. Damn there are lots of "teams" ready to go in one flipping day. There must have been a sale. Then at some point, Jack gets a deadline from some baddie. And you could set your watch by either the mother or daughter getting captured by different people every episode. You can also count on Palmer's son storming out in every episode he's in. You could easily make a great drinking game out of 24 Day 1. If there's one out there, please, someone elaborate, because I'm too lazy to work one out myself. Don't get me wrong- this show had some great positives. Mostly Palmer and Bauer when Bauer wasn't interacting with his family in one-dimensional sappiness. I dug Palmer the most. He had high integrity and stuck by his guns. Like I said, the last episode of Day 1 was it's saving grace. The bad Serbs went out like punks, but I liked how they got rid of the annoying wives of the two main characters. Kudos again to Palmer for kicking your kiniving wife to the curb. Ands speaking of wifes- oh man, Jack. We gotta talk about your taste in women. What are you trying to tell us, my friend? You reeeealy like the androgynous man-women, don't you buddy? Your wife's hair is shorter than Ellen's and she wouldn't know a dress if it bit her. And her bloody name is 'Terry'...that's right up there with Pat and Chris for ambiguous man/woman names. Some of these writers need to be shot. Or the casting supervisor. I'm crossing my fingers that Jack gets more consistant badassery going in Day 2 and that I see more of Palmer. I'm pretty sure that it gets better, or there wouldn't be legions of Bauer fans out there after 5 years. 3 stars out of 5 for Day 1.
One thing that I've learned from 24 is that unless the person dies, he/she will definitely be back again.
