Sam Mack signed Friday with the Miami Heat after spending last season out of the NBA. A 6-foot-7, 212-pound swingman, Mack has averaged 8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists during his NBA career with San Antonio, Houston, Vancouver and Golden State. Mack has shot 40.4 percent from the field, 83.4 percent from the foul line and 37.8 percent from 3-point distance. Mack, 31, spent last season in the International Basketball League and Continental Basketball Association with Grand Rapids where he averaged 13.2 points a game. The Heat did not reveal terms of the agreement. (Copyright 2001 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
Glad to see Mack has latched on somewhere in the league. Hopefully he'll make the roster and we can see him in action this season.
Hopefully, Sam will be able to CRACK the Heat roster, and bring a HIGH level of intensity to the team. Maybe he'll be able to BLOW by defenders and LIGHT UP the opponent with threes.
why do riley keep signing these one dimensional players? he should have learned last year in the playoffs that they need to get more atheletic. rider and jones would be a good 2/3 combo for them especially in the east were most of the 2/3 's a very atheletic.
Hit the head on the nail here (or however that expression goes). This is exactly what I have been saying about SA too. Interesting, one of SA's "big coups" is pencilling in a new SF who couldn't help another team even more desperate for athletic and offensively diverse swing players. Good luck to Sam though!
