With all of the talk on the boards of Billy being dissatisfied and JVG saying Billy is his own worst enemy. Do you think they can coexist or is it time for a change.
i really think they'll coexist but i had to vote on the "deport JVG back to TBS" cuz it just sounded funny... sorry. =]
My favorite part is where Vassilis is spelled differently in the thread title, the poll title, and the poll option. And none of them are right.
I voted for Bill to come back to Greece because I want him playing for my team Seriously now, they will both have to back down a lot for them to coexist. I am aware of some off-the-record quotes by Span that I can't post here, from his conversations with Van Gundy. It seems there's a pretty big rift between them that could be hard to bridge. But only time will tell...
It's up to V-Span. If he continues to act like a child, I don't think he will ever find a place on this team.
this might be the most attention paid to an insignificant bench warming scrub and his desires in NBA history. quite frankly, who cares if he and van gundy can coexist.
You must have forgotten Langhi, Turkan, etc... Odd how none are black. Rodrick Rhodes was probably the only one that ever actually showed something and nobody had his back.
LOL nice attention to detail and Choosing between Vspan and JVG???? we should choose between VSpan and TMac..i mean both of them are creators for others..even Vspan said it himself..he was Tmac in Greece (or something along those lines) so what is it guys??
VSpan is good enough player that he will find work in the NBA. He is a true point guard and he is good enough to play 15 minutes a games for the rockets. Van Gundy either needs to give him 15 minutes of playing time or if the rockets feel he is not in their plan then they need to cut him out right. Why waste some one talent if you are not going to play him. I think VSpan will be very happy with either of those decisions.
Other fact about Gundy, he doesn't like foreign players on his squad and I believe this is a proven facts. If Yao hadn't turned out the way he did then he also would have been sitting at the end of the bench. It took few years for Yao to develop into the player he is right now and I believe it will take few years for VSpan to shine as well and get adjusted to the NBA but this is not an excuse to not play him at all. Like other great coaches, I don't believe Van Dick has ever won any championship with any club.
People are making too much of this. Many promising players spend a year or two on the bench. This reminds me of Dan Langhi and Boki Nachbar. People said they would be great if they had their chance, but once they got playing time they sucked. I hope V-Span turns out better than those guys but I seriously believe that, like them, he isn't ready yet. Remember Rudy tried to play Nachbar early in his rookie year and it just didn't work. Likewise Gundy tried to get V-Span some minutes earlier and it just was not working out.
So you're basically saying that if Yao sucked, he'd be at the end of the bench? What's the problem with that? Also, what's the proof that Van Gundy doesn't like foreign players on his squad? Think carefully before you reply- make sure you're not actually just proving that Van Gundy doesn't like crappy players on his squad.
I am torn on this poll. And, if it comes down to a rookie PG who is not playing and a coach who is winning despite injuries.....it is not going to be pretty for the rookie. I understand what JVG is doing, though I don't necessarily agree with it. However, the team is 9 games over .500 and has a chance to be something special. If Billy would just lower his head and get to work he would get back in the rotation more quickly especially with Rafer and JL3 struggling. We need his passion and energy on the court, but that will not happen with JVG if you don't follow his system. Billy should commit to his system, and when he gets some Playing time, add a little Billy flare as he goes along. DD
Agreed. Clutch I have the greatest respect for you but when it comes to Gundy I have to disagree. Every one has their strength and weaknesses and Van Gundy is no exception to this rule. Van Gundy is good when it comes to working with centers and PF and post up game but he has absolutely no idea how to utilize other smaller players on the team. He also had problems with players who were outspoken and some times they didn't follow his rule. Look at Don Nelson he is good working with PG and he knows how to utilize their talent to maximum. If VSpan was playing for Don Nelson or Phoenix type team then his talent would have been utilized much better and he would have progressed much further along. I don't believe this is going to happen under Van Gundy.
All who voted JVG must be sent back to the studio for the favor of Vspan getting some playing time should not be allowed to watch basketball. You're gonna fire a top 5 coach for a European prospect out of the 2nd round. How stupid can you get. He's the last guard on the depth chart, meaning we got better players ahead of him in the rotation. He's a 2nd round pick for God's sake. He should not be expecting to be a regular rotation player. Darko was a 2nd overall pick and he was buried on the Pistons bench with better players already playing ahead of him. I never heard any "Fire Larry Brown" talk from any Pistons' fans.
Then you never talked to many Piston fans.....Larry Brown is an A$$ and many in Detroit were more than happy he left. It is also disengenous to refer to V-Span as a typical 2nd round pick...if he was in the draft this year do you think he would have been a 2nd round pick? He certainly is not being paid like one. As for the rest of your post, I agree....I voted to keep em both. DD
Your mistaking me with Clutch. I'm MR. Clutch, not THE Clutch. And if Van Gundy really has that much negative influence on guards, then why is Luther Head playing so well? How did JLIII go from an undrafted player to getting minutes on a good NBA team? How did Mike James manage to play so well here? Spanoulis has no one to blame for himself.
