I heard usually around Super Bowl week, they have lots of sales going on for HDTVs. I am not sure if its true, but I really hope so! I need a new TV really bad anyways! Anybody heard of any online or in store deals? I'm looking for a 1080p lcd or plasma, somewhere around 40" or 42". I am thinking of the big names Samsung or Sony but I am not sure which models performs the best. Suggestions?
I may pull the trigger on a big (47 inch+) lcd or plasma that I can mount on my wall if there is an insane deal. Anyone seen anything?
Fry's had some good deals on Samsung TVs. I think the biggest one was 40" though. Like 200 off. I don't know if it is wiser to wait until after the Super Bowl or buy before it.
Panasonic TH-50PH9UK 50" Plasma, one hell of a TV for ~$1700. this is the "commercial" version, meaning no tuners, no speakers, no stand, so you will need a Cable/Sat HD Box and a Receiver/Speakers - but you won't find a better looking 50" plasma for the price
I pulled the trigger on a Samsung 56 DLP in 1080p this weekend. Got the Dish HD upgrade the same day. Best electronics decision I've ever made. The games looked amazing yesterday.
1080p plasmas are WAY EXPENSIVE.. Your best bet is Samsung/Sony/Sharp if you want to go cheap, the best models are Westinghouse and Vizio. I'd pick Westinghouse over Vizio.

I heard alot of the so called "1080p" TVs are actually 1080i. This is what someone said about the Sony KDL40XBR2 on Nextag. "After 2 go-arounds with Sony product support I finally confirmed (much to my disappointment) that the XBR2 will not display 1080p in spite of all the misleading advertising. It will accept 1080p signals, but the panel will "downrez" to 1080i. However, I'm also betting that 80% of all the other "1080p" TVs out there either don't accept 1080p signals or won't display them. Just understand what you're getting. Having said that, I think this is the best 40" picture available. " Does this mean these "1080p" TVs don't actually perform at that level? Or rather, are incapable of that output?
seriously. dont worry about 1080p. unless you are getting a really big tv, you wont tell the difference cause the pixels are so small. get a 720p TV and you'll be happy. 1080p is only for people who use blu-ray, ps3, xbox360 with VGA/HDMI connections. are you being facetious? that TV is most definitely HDTV, like I said though, it doesn't have a HDTV tuner so you will need an external HD source like a Cable Box or Sat (no over the air HD), but for most of us, that isn't a problem

For anyone interested...I just got back from the Galleria Best Buy. They are have a NO interest until 2010 sale. I started sweating bullets when I saw that and made myself leave. They are also having another sale that might interest you with deep pockets. Buy a Sony 50" 1080 (I think that's the specs) get a Sony 50" for FREE!!!. I think the one you buy is around $7000. The other was a more regular HDTV I believe. Again, I didn't catch the specifics since it was out of my range anyway.
