Thats what Im talkin about, its definately tight. You could go both ways, dream was still an all around talent, but mutombo has stayed dominant at his calling card

It was worded that way on purpose. Kinda like a trick question to see if you caught it.

I instinctively voted for Hakeem because the thread title caught me off guard ;) , but I would have given Mutombo the slight edge playing at age 40.

Those are actually Hakeem's #s as a Raptor, when he was 39...

His per 40min numbers over the season in which he turned 38 are 17.8ppg, 11.2 Reb, 1.9 Ast, 1.8 Stl, and 2.3 Blks. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/olajuha01.html

Mutombo's per 40min numbers over the season in which he turned 39 are 7.1ppg, 12.8 Reb, 0.2 Ast, 0.7 Stl, and 2.4 Blk.

In either comparison, Hakeem's got the advantange, though Deke is still playing amazing and that should not be discredited from him.

I don't know much about Deke when he was 38.. but I would think that Deke was a better defensive player than Hakeem during that age simply because he doesn't really have much to boast on offense, hence the extra attention on defense. So I voted for Deke based on that.

I think in general Hakeem could have been the better offensive player and he was also looked on for that, not so much for Deke (btw, is it bad finding Deke getting blocked by the rim particularly humorous?). Too bad Hakeem had that whole breathing problem or he could've been better before he retired. I was rather young in my teens when Hakeem was in his later years for the Rox so forgive me if I'm a little off.
