On TNT, they said that Glen Rice was really upset for playing only 17 minutes, only 2 minutes in the 4th quarter. They said that Glen Rice was expecting to be traded, so that means that he probably let Phil Jackson have it. Or at least he told Phil Jackson that he wanted out. Could we get Glen Rice? What could we offer? G-Money's gonna leave next year anyway, so they might just want to get something out of him before he leaves. Possibly Wizard, TMass, and someone else. Maybe Jackson will figure that Wizard will get out of his slump with a different team, so Wizard will be able to compensate for G-Money's shooting ability. Plus T-Mass is a good power forward. If we throw in someone else, then who knows? Heck, forget about Kendall Gill, get Glen Rice. But Gill would be nice also.

people we can't trade
cato, rogers, of course francis.

I would like to keep mobley and shandon; i really like both of them. Shandon is a good all around player, whereas G-Money can't play good defense.

BUT WE PROBABLY WONT GET HIM ANYWAY, but who knows?

Unless he has a good year with us and decides to stay. I think he would accept lesser money on this team if he knows that it will result in a good chance of winning a championship. Plus Rudy is a players' coach, and he could develop a good relationship with Glen Rice.

But I say we should trade ONLY IF it is involving Bullard, Wizard, TMass, Hamilton, or Kenny Thomas. I don't want to trade Hamilton and especially Kenny Thomas. But they probably don't want Hamilton with Shaq there.

but now that i think about who we're offering, i seriously doubt we be trading for G-money.

Shandon should be untouchable right now.

we already had a chance for glen rice, and we didn't want him then... why would we want him now? he'd come in, get in francis' way... hell, i don't want him in carlos' way... nope, not going to happen, no way...

this team needs holes shored up... we can't go adding new superstars because previous stars didn't get the opportunity to get in francis' way of development (that's not pointed at charles) roles players or stars, NOT superstars...

Achebe,

Glen Rice is not a 'superstar', and he would "shore up a hole" ... the SF spot.

Plus, he's a guy I like to shoot the last shot of a game, before Hakeem gets back.

------------------
I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.

Glen has been the scapegoat for that organization since they got him. You can't blame him for wanting out.

By the way they are looking for a power forward and that's an area we just can't help them with.

I think the P.J. Brown deal with Miami is distinct possiblity for them.

Rice is starting to play like his usual bad self. The only thing that bothers me about Glen is that he plays no D.
P.J.Brown to the Lakers and you can give them the title....just my opinion

Rice doesn't want out of the Lakers necessarily, he wants the $$$. The Rockets won't be able to land him via free agency, because I don't think they have enough cap room (14 mill per year I believe) (His agent is FALK). Rice is a roleplayer, and I don't think anyone at the Lakers expect to pay a roleplayer 14 mill. Isn't PJ Brown like an adopted son to Riley, so I doubt the trade is going down.

Oh yea.....drew/Walt for Rice won't happen just in case you are wondering =)

i dont see why we could'nt get rice, we could offer walt williams a (three point threat to take rice's spot), tony massenburg (big body l.a. needs)and throw in bryce drew (to sweetin the deal) and we could have him. just my opinion though.

Right..........that WAS sarcasm right? =)

Tmass is far from a solution for a 4 or a backup 5. Besides, the job of injury prone big man is taken by Horry.

Wizard downright sux this year. The only threat he possesses is clanking shots harder than Shaq at the free throw line.

Drew to sweeten the deal? The only way for Drew to sweeten anything is if he brings some packs of sweet & low.

Oh yea...probably wouldn't work capwise either.

I thought Rice would have been an excellent acquisition w/ the post up offense, but with our new offense I don't see him fitting in. He likes to get his shots and like mentioned isn't a good defensive player either, i would rather keep Anderson/Mobley at the 2/3 positions.

Another problem with Rice that I can't believe hasn't been mentioned is that he's an old man. We're not reloading for another championship anymore. If we trade for a SF, he should be around 25 years old.

Oh yeah Juan. I completely forgot about that. Yeah, if we get someone, it should be someone who can be with us for an extended period of time. Plus, I don't like Rice's low level of defensive intensity.

I thought Rice would have been an excellent acquisition w/ the post up offense, but with our new offense I don't see him fitting in.

Well, what is our new offense exactly? It is mainly an offense without too much posting up. Remember how Rice got all of his points in Charlotte? They ran him off of picks and stuff, like they do for Reggie Miller, and Rice is better than Miller. So, I see no problem as to why they can't incorporate this into our offense.

But in the end, I think Juan is right. Rice is too old, and while he might provide some veteran leadership, it still won't pay off in the long run. We need someone like Shareef Abdur Rahim; someone who is young and athletic that can stay with us for the next 6 years without having to retire.

peace
